I think we should all put our ideas together so we can come up with plans for making a helicopter.
Surely, there are people here with enough spares such as boom, rx, tx, skids, servos etc to make a new heli. But obviously there would have to be modifications otherwise it would just be a belt cp lol...

Nice idea. Many of us have already put together a frankenbelt of some description, but they're all just one guy's idea of what might work. What would be the rules? Do we start with a plastic Belt CP and work towards the most cost-effective mod package, or do we just take the best features of all the choppers we know and put together our collective dream machine?

It may actually be useful to try and come up with a proper belt based 450 heli as cheaply as possible. A lot of People buy stock ones and never get as far as upgrading them properly. A sandard 'neccassary' upgrade profile sticky could help quite a few people :)

A collective dream machine would be good:D
The idea of this thread is too get everyones opinions etc and then decide on a final outcome. Then, who ever has the part can make it and show it to us.
I will also try and make one myself but I need ideas which is why I made this thread. Also, I don't have many spares so it would be nice to see what someone can do with a lot of good parts.
So then. Any ideas on how this is going to be done?

In my case I would have to make a cheapy one because I only have cheapy spares. I have skids and spare servos. Spare TX and RX. I would need to buy a few things like the frame and a boom. But I could find a pipe with the same diameter and cut it :P.
Im sure there are people with a lot more spares than me that could make something really impressive.
But what ever the outcome. It can't be the same as a belt cp because then there would be no point on making this thread lol:P

No but a belt with a copter x head and DTS is a proper 450 size heli,:)
I know an Exi kit or copter X kit does the trick Mike but many people have belts which could become dream machines:thumbup:

Agree Ian. My belt flies beautifully now, thanks to the copterx head, and the DTS mod. It is well balanced, responsive and [generally] does what it is told; including crash!!!!!! We have had this chat before, but I still reckon I have spent a lot of wad on getting it this far...

Which is all the more reason to try and help people to short cut the expense and go staight to the best cheapest option:)
Im not sure if that is quite what Jonny is after but it may be worth doing.
It's also a shame if Esky belt forum's main advice is....... buy an Exi :YeaBaby::YeaBaby:

OK, first wave: The Bare Essentials.
- Blades: Align 315/325 Pro ($13) / Fiber ($14) / Carbon ($15) or HDX FRPs ($16)
- Align main shafts HS1011-3, pack of three ($8)
- New Damper System FS-BLK-V1 ($1.50)
- Servos: SG90 x 4 ($25)
Call that $50 for a completely different flight experience... for parts you're going to break and need to replace anyway. The stock Esky &##¤% would cost you at least the same. How's that for a free upgrade? :D

Strike 2
I am in the procces of making a aluminium frame in one piece that can be cut out by a lasercutter found on every street corner ( the shops who engrave stuff has them)

This is the type of stuff we need. Hope the aluminium frame goes well Ber. If you get get that to work it will be awsome.
Does anyone know where I could buy a bare bones belt cp for cheap? Possibly from America but without the expensive postage? Some links might help:dontknow.
Cheers,
Jonny
