I am looking to upgrade the battery charger for my E-Sky 2100 and 1800 batteries, and am looking for opinions and recommendations.

OK, I'll start by singing the praises of the Cellpro 4S (http://www.fmadirect.com/products.htm?cat=45&nid=4). Up to 4A charge current, true individual cell charging with intelligent monitoring, does A123s and up to 4S LiPo packs, LiPo Restore and Store modes, adapters available for just about any pack under the sun. Invariably accurate to .01 V. Everything's fully automatic, and this thing seems to know more about pack chemistry than I'm ever going to learn. I love this charger.

A word of caution the esky batt don't allow 1C charging read the back of the batteries.
Imho a upgrade of charger would be a waste of money if you do not upgrade your batts to.
Like I said it is only my opinion.Don't shoot me if you have a other opinion :smokin:

Ber60,
Can the ESky batteries be used with another charger, like the CellPro?

I use the Cellpro to Great Planes / Kokam adapter (http://www.fmadirect.com/detail.htm?item=2271§ion=45) for Esky batteries. For what it's worth, I charge my Eskys on the Cellpro's 2C automatic program and they come away room temperature... in a fraction of the time taken by the stock balancing charger. The trick is to individually charge the cells up to the correct voltage, not charge everything in series and then bleed off excess charge. You're going to see much, much shorter charge times even on 1C.

Yes, but our friend Mika has more experience in these matters then I, he did it. I don't even fly esky batts anymore.

Great charger..love mine. Can simultaneously charge 2 2200 mAh batteries at 2C in 45 minutes. perfectly balanced to within .00 volts.
For $199 get the package that includes 2 Air Thunder 2200 mAh batteries. (same battery as a KongPower)
Best investment in this hobby I've spent.

testpilot58d,
Do the batteries in the package fit the battery tray in the Belt?

ohhh...g..good question
I hadn't thought of that. Let me mic one of the batteries.
Height- 31mm at highest point
Width- 38mm at widest point

Thanks, I think the batteries should fit.

Running a DTS mod? 27 mm is the max height that will fit under the plastic frame's stock front servo mount. That's the exact height of the Esky EK1-0187. Battery tray width seems to be 37 mm, so it might be a tight squeeze or a hammer fit, depending on where the widest point is on the battery.

Finn...that 'widest point' reading is from the middle of the battery (top to bottom) There is a wire that runs from a cell at the bottom of the battery to the top covered in shrinkwrap. (If the battery were in the tray, the wire would run the length of the battery from back to front. halfway up the height of it)
Tell you what...buy the combo, if the batts don't fit, I will buy them off of you for the difference in the cost plus shipping to me.
win/win situation

Why not do a mod and mount the batt on top by the motor?????????? Mine works fine and assists in reducing the roll inertia.
