Firstly, sorry if this is redundant. I searched first and found similar questions, but being the dunce I am I'm looking for specific answers to my specific question (specifically). So here goes...
OK, finally got my DX7 and Phoenix sim, very excited.
Went into the radio and made a model called Sim450. Set it up as if it were a Trex450 Except set it to one servo on the swash.

The Phoenix manual says set your radio to ppm, isnt the Dx7 this way be default? if not how would I change it. The manual also says disable CCPM, is this not accomplished by setting the swash to 1 servo in the radio?
Do I need to go into the swash mix and inhibit everything?
How do I know if the sim is using the settings from the radio (curves, etc.) or its own settings?
In the sim, there appears to be only one flight mode (normal?) which is linear, but can be changed. Of course I want to have all three flight modes. How is this accomplished? How do I tell the sim "ignore all your settings and use whats on my radio"?
How do I know if the sim is really using MY modes, or using its own?
Findally, if I can use my radios modes, can I also use my throttle hold switch?

PS
I turned on Phoenix briefly just to make sure everything worked (with my incomplete setup) and it looks beautiful ! Really anxious to get into it, especially since Realflight G3 runs like crap on my laptop. There was $180 down the tubes.

Thanks all

It's PPM by default and I don't think there is any way to change it.

Yes.

No, and I would be surprised if the Swash menu was even available with no CCPM enabled.

I'll address these as a group. The easiest way to set it up is to just select the 3D variant of the model and then possibly adjust the min/max collective and the cyclic pitch. Then, just leave the sim in Normal mode. The sim should only define the mechanical limits of the model when using the radio's curves. All of the normal curve-affecting controls on the radio will work: NORM, ST-1, ST-2, and HOLD flight modes, expo, dual rates, etc.

One easy way to tell if your radio curves are being used is to spin up the heli to center throttle stick, flip to an idle-up mode, and then go full negative on the collective. Assuming you have set up good idle-up curves, you should see and hear the heli push into the ground. If you flip the TH switch, the rotor should spin down; the same should happen if you flip back into Normal mode while the collective is full negative.

Thanks Alan:
So I guess, in a nutshell, you set up your "sim" model exactly the way you would with the real heli with the exception of a single servo on the swash...
Of course, all other opinions and tips are most appreciated.
Boy, I love this place:D

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Well, you could have, but that would have meant a lot less typing practice. :D;)
