Just got off the phone with Jack, and ordered a full setup of Duralites for my Extreme!
My checking account has suffered a bit due to the advice of Clint, Will, HC, Zak, Markus, Eric, and a few hundred others. Thanks for showing me the advantages of Duralite technology and Especially to Clint for the 'Clint's Clinics' Discount card!
You guys just starting out should get with Clint for a rookie to intermediate clinic on setup and orientation, if you don't learn anything, You still get a discount! (not to mention You can't help but learn something!)
No more exploding NiCd packs that only last 6 months for me!!

Great choice Wayne - their products and service are number one! Once you use them, you'll wonder how you ever got along without them. Get Mikey's bird setup also so he can keep burning the fuel!

I took the plunge with the Duralites for one of my helis are its been great.... 9 flights on the fresh pack received from Duralite without any worries.
Definitely love the convienence of being able to fly without worrying about re-chargeing and also being abe to have the heli sitting and ready to go fly at a moment's notice.
Its a great set-up

WHen you realize you have left the heli on between flights they are also priceless for their reserve. They just work..................Glad you guys can enjoy flying like I enjoy it  See you @ IRCHA SE
I also went for it and upgraded my stratus to Duralites and could not be happier! They last all day and you don't have to worry about recharging.

I just got a new pack yesterday.. and it looks like they are using different connectors. For those of you who were having problems with the connectors... it looks like that problem is fixed!
Lets see--- 5 digital servos + a gryo and governor... maybe 9 flights without a recharge??? :D

Add me to the list of those that have seen the "lite" Ordered a complete setup, multicharger, trans battery, load tester, 4000ma battery and 5.3 volt fail safe regulator for my stratus. Thanks Steve B. for the advice.

Once you ever fly one on Duralites the first time, you won't fly with anything else. Put Duralite's in your transmitter too and go fly all day without needing a charger at all. ONly way to go.

Well I will go against the grain here.
I will fly Nicds till they pry my transmitter from my cold dead hands.
Everyone I see at a Fun Fly seems to have a half hour between flights.
$300 is too much money for me, when $45 will buy 4500 mah (3-1500mah AA packs) worth of flying time.
Sorry I'm not going that route

Glad you guy's are happy.
I'll save my money.
I bought a $300 Micro Lader Pro when I went to E -heli's and I have to use it for something. :D :D
"The service you get from them is outstanding making them that much better "
Gary don't take this wrong, but in 18 years of R/C I have never needed service from a battery manufacturer(other than the E-Heli thing). But I have heard of these packs/regulators failing, and have seen two set a heli on fire (one was a crash so that does'nt count...I guess)
I really feel like the wet mop here, but what is wrong with the packs we have been flying for 18 years.
I may be a special case here but $200 buy's 2 set's of blades for me ...not one flight pack.
Just wait, in six months 9252's will be obsolete also...If they are not already.

Tom,
You have seen Lithium/Ion batteries cause a fire?
And who's manufactured the Lithium-Ion packs that caused the fire?
Just curious, I have seen and heard of Lithium/Polymer fires. But I have not heard of any Lithium/Ion fires.

I'll go against the grain along with Tom on this one. I use high-quality sub-C NiMh packs rated at 3300 mAh or above in everything I own. I get 6-8 flights easily even on my Intrepid gasser with all digital servos. If I do need to recharge them in the field, an old MRC SuperBrain will fast charge them at 3-4A with no trouble from my car battery.
One thing that Tom said kind of hits the point home: Most of us spend more time "networking" at funflys than actually flying. There's almost enough time to trickle charge your batteries.

I will agree about the networking at fun flys. But most pilots may go to one fun fly a month. I know when I go to the local field to fly, it is not unusual for me to fly 10-12 flights in a 4 or 5 hour period. I usually don't go to the local field to BS. And this has been my experience when visiting flying fields of friends in other parts of the country. They are normally at the local field to put in several flights in a short period of time. So they don't want to mess with field fast chargers.

I agree with David, when you are at your local field it's AWESOME to be able to fly flight after flight after flight on a Li-Ion system without worrying about charging or replacing a battery. When I switched from NiCads to Li-Ions a year ago the first night out with them I flew 5 flights all in a row. More time in the air meant more time learning new stuff :)
Duralites are not cheap, but there are other Li-Ion options out there if you want to use the new technology.
