ok so ive flown the p*ss out of my 4#3b as Gr4yb3ard instructed and beat the crap out of it in the process. amazingly nothing other than a tail boom and canopy where damaged. tail boom was a quick fix with a trip up to the LHS as for the canopy, i decided to take a swing at vacuforming and make my own. i figure while im at it ill make a custom canopy for the 200. i started sculpting a mini copy of the SJM 450 v2, (im sure alot of people think its ugly but i really like it) and im looking for other ideas. so if you have any ideas for something to recreate or your own design, or even a scale canopy let me know because id like to try a few.
-thanks for the input!

I sure like the Avant Aurora canopy. Something like the pictures below. I could try and draw up a few things and see what people think. This is great that someone wants to try something like this :) ! Keep us posted.

Thanks for tackling this. I'm liking the SJM 450 myself.

Good work and i am liking the SJM 450 as well... reminds me a little of a Lambda class shuttle. I'm not sure if others are having the same problem but i have posted about this before.... A canopy with slightly more room underneath than the 9g one... that way i can continue to use the battery plate mod with 3s.

Sweet! I was thinking about getting into vacuum forming as well, and make some canopies... since I'm a canopy horder lol... I like the SJM 450 as well, it's different! made me look twice :)
Anyway, I'd love a scale fuse... make a fuse that fits a 200 well :)

Isnt' it amazing how great minds think alike? I've been considering a different look for the 200 also. I've got the "lil Hurricane" look going with the red & white fg canopy but when Buzz threw up the "Who needs Canomod" thread the wheels in my head started up and I was thinking about something high visibility since the little beeotch can get real small real quick and I've always liked the Synergy canopy so I came up with what you see below. What do you think? There is no problem seeing it now.

Thanks Buzz, Krylon rattle can. I'm real happy with it. It's amazing how much you can change the look with just a canopy.:smokin:

Thanks Crabfu, I'm not much of a painter so it was a learning experience for me. But I was pleasantly surprised. One thing I learned you can use ca as a body filler. That canopy is the 9g plastic one. I filled the seam that runs right down the middle with ca and sanded it. You can't even tell there is a seam there. I'll have to get a shot of the nose posted so you can see what I mean. Anyway thanks again, :smokin:

OK, here's the real test... I have seen this picture for quite some time on the HeliHobby site and think it it the coolest design ever. I don't know if it is a kit or custom (I assume custom since I have never seen it anywhere else; even on their site).
Anyway Sirwallis, here is your challenge... make a canopy that looks like this

This is the second time in a month that heli has been brought up lol. Its a LMH Corona 120 with all the ballistic Technology upgrades and the Blue thunder scheme.
Just help with the customizing. :)
Jetleaf, which Radix blades are those on the little guy ?

Very interested about the radix myself.
As for canopy rattle can is the way to go on the plastic canopy I think. I'll try to get a decent picture of mine posted tonight. I think its pretty cool.

Hey guys thanks. Those are not Radix blades. They are plastic Gaui blades that I painted to look like Radix.

Where can I get a canopy like that to paint my own? When you say FG canopy I'm not sure what everyone is talking about. Thnaks!

My appologies for the confusion, most of the regular freaks in this forum have seen the pix of my red & white Fiber Glass canopy which resembles the Hurricane 550 red & white canopy hince my statement "I already have the lil Hurricane look". The canopy pictured in this thread is the lightweight plastic Gaui canopy part number 203166 that can be had from any place that sells the Gaui 200. I have cut and trimmed it so it may not appear to be a Gaui canopy to some.
This is the canopy used in the photo.http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll115/Jetleaf/203166F.jpg

So, now I am confused:dontknow You say that your red/white canopy is fiberglass, is it a Gaui canopy or aftermarket?
Jetleaf

My red & white canopy is a Gaui also, like this one.

and mine after I messed around with it.

I assumed everyone was aware of the different the different canopy's from Gaui. Also I stand corrected, the red & white is FRP and not Fiber Glass according to the product description at Heli Direct.

FRP?
So, is that 'FRP' canopy any wider than the plastic one?
Oh ya, and how do you post full size pictures in your post? I tried last night and couldn't do it.

I just compared my red & white FRP canopy and a brand new plastic one and the FRP is actually a little bit wider. Measured at the grommet holes the FRP is 50mm and the plastic is 39. These measurements were taken with the canopy off of the heli. The plastic is a lot more pliable than the more rigid FRP. The plastic one will slide inside the FRP canopy. The length is the same. They look identical as far as the shape. The FRP, or Fiber Reinforced Plastic (I think that's what it means) is much heavier, 20 grams as opposed to the 9 gram plastic.
As to the photo size, that is the size of the image I uploaded to Photobucket, which is linked to this forum.
