Hi All,

Well, it's taken awhile, but I'm really starting to like my 500 3D. I think Mercuriell was saying that it takes awhile to get it dialed in, and I guess that's what happened in my case. Here's what it took to get it flying right:

- 5% up elevator mix with right aileron to keep the tail from dropping in consecutive rolls
- 0% elevator mix with left aileron
- 12% up elevator mix with negative pitch to keep her from climbing when inverted
- 65% aileron on the swash
- 65% elevator on the swash
- 60% pitch on the swash
- 40% expo on aileron and elevator (because I do slow and 4 point upright and inverted pirouettes as part of my routine)
- 40% expo on the rudder to soften the stops on the 770 3D gyro

I flew her today and I have to say that she is flying pretty good and is fun to fly. She handles like a sports car and is really fun to watch with the big canopy and short tail boom. I've got some bright colors on her and that really helps too.

She's leaps and bounds better than the Swift that she replaced. And she's almost as good as my 8S 600E. Now that she's dialed in, she's an honest machine that only does what I tell her. And with the herringbone gearset, she is very quiet.

Way to go Mikado!

Hey good to here. With the mixing are you sure you not getting some interaction with the swash or the travel settings need to be adjusted for each servo?

The more i fly mine to more i like it also.

Hi Helicraze,

When I built it, I used a swash leveling tool to ensure there was no interaction with the collective. However, now that I'm flying it, I find that I need some interaction to get it to do what I want.

The nose was climbing in the inverted hover, and I had to hold up elevator when flying inverted (something I really dislike doing). So I mixed in 12% up elevator with negative pitch and I no longer have the problem. Yes, there is interaction, but it now flies the way I want it to.

In fact, now, it is almost as good as my 8S 600E. I was completing my rolling circle tonight, which for me is the test if the heli is flying the way I like it. It's a sweet heli, and is well worth the investment.

How do you mix in elevator only on the neg pitch side?

or do you set the travel different at low stick?

Hi Kraaiger,

On the Spektrum DX7 radio, you can mix in different inputs for positive and negative stick movements. I just set the elevator mix for the negative movements of the collective stick. Upright hover only required a couple clicks of down trim.

I'm not sure why my electric helis have required mixes while my 600N did not. But I do know that they're much more enjoyable to fly with the mixes.
