Ok, so, more dumb newbie questions...
My gyro is setup on the aux2 channel, I have 0 set to 72% and 1 set to 28%. F-Mode on all is 0. Now, since its on the gear channel, if I hit the aux switch and change it to 1. will that change the gyro sensitivity to 28% ? or since its set to auto, will it jsut use the F-Mode for the mode i'm in ?
Ok, so, I've heard expo can be a good thing for a newbie aswell. So, I went through the menus and looked. The guy that set this thing up has +20% expo setup, but its set to off on the curves.. Does that mean its not using expo on the cyclic at all? or is that just throttle expo?
Ok, 1 more about expo, i see that it says in the section labeled auto d/r expo
norm is set to p0, st1/2 are both p-2 and hold is inhibited... what in the world is this referring to.. I just found the expo setting on the swash mix page too.. not sure what its for...
I dont have a manual for this thing, so, if someone could completly explain the the process of setting up expo. I would really appreciate it!!
Thanks !!!

My gryro is set up differently...I have my gyro set up with the gear channel. This way I can change from heading hold to rate if I want to by moving the gear switch. The gain is then set using the travel adjust (gear) menu.

I set my expo to 25% for both aileron and elevator - No expo for the rudder (Leave it linear). The expo set-up menu does not have anything to do with the expo for the throttle and pitch curve menus. However, you should turn on the expo feature for the curves. With the exponential function ON, you will notice that any “sharp” angles of the throttle or pitch curves become more “rounded” or “smooth,” creating a smooth throttle servo movement during the entire throttle or pitch curve range.

The Auto Dual Rate and Expo function allows Expo and Dual Rate values (aileron, elevator and rudder) to be
automatically selected in each flight mode (Normal, ST1, ST2, and Hold.) When an auto dual rate flight mode is
inhibited, the dual rate is defaulted to the correlating switch and dual rate switch positions.
Some advanced pilots may want expo enabled in normal mode and flight mode 1, but he may want no expo in flight mode 2 (for 3D flying). The P-o and P-1 referes to the respective switch positions on the radio
I personally use expo in all flight modes so all flight modes in the menu are set to P-0. That way all of the switches are in the up position.

So, you don't use the Gyro Sens menu? (page 91 on the DX7 Manual in PDF)
On mine, I think its set to auto, so I wasnt sure if changing the AUX 2 switch did anything.

So, I set the Aileron and elevator EXP % in the D/R & EXP screens, unser say POS-1 and leave POS-0 w/o EXP. And if I go into the Auto Dual Rate and Expo screen and tell it to use Pos-1 in Normal, is there a switch that this literally correlates to that I can change it to No Exp mode in the air ? Or is this a virtual switch?

This just all seems rather confusing to a new guy :)

P-0 and P-1 correspond to the endpoints of whatever channel you have assigned for gyro gain. It's as if you had a switch that selected between the two values, but it's tied into the flight mode switch. So, yes, it is a virtual switch. The only way to get a dedicated switch for gyro gain is to use the method mkoutnik and I use. In all honesty, I set it up that way for testing purposes and to recenter the tail when I moved the heli, but I haven't used the tail recentering method since I got to the point where I could fly an entire pack/tank before landing, so I never touch the gain when I'm at the field.
