I just got my SAH in the air this week on 6s A123, performance is much better then the 4s lipo on the stock motor and 24t pinion. So far I have only run 4 minute flights, but I haven't acctually checked to see if i can get more time yet. I am running the align carbon blades, trex 500 flybar, paddles and landing gear. I may put my Scorpion 1000kv motor in it and try 5s

well, 6s A123 flies very, very well, and 4.5 minutes is tops for a fairly hard flight, it is about 100g heavier then the 4s 3700 lipo but performance is much better! and 5s A123 is also very nice, also better then 4s lipo but not as snappy as 6s, but for mild flying it is a good flyer, I will probalby keep both 6s and 5s packs on hand. this week I will be putting in the scorpion 1000kv motor i have and give it a shot, but unfortunalty I fried my charger so will Have to wait for a new charger!

I've been running w/ 6s a123 and get over 5 min of sport flying. It's nice to zip charge and to not worry about fires and over discharging. I'm currently converting the frame to fit the 130 tooth gear. I'm a novice pilot so when the main gear would strip, it would result in basically a free fall. Need to learn how to auto-rotate. lol.

I highly recommend going w/ a123 unless you are a serious 3d pilot.

yes I am very happy now with 6s A123, performance it very good, I went back to the stock motor and the 24t pinion and it is unboggable, i get about 4 to maybe 4.5 min of mild 3d 4 min tops of hard flying. the 6s A123 is about 100g heavier then the 4s evo 3700mah pack, so weight is not a issue at all

I went from using a 6s 300 to a 7s 123. Weight/preformance drop is pretty substantial but i still enjoy being able to quickly charge the packs. I get about 4 minutes tops with a scorpion 1400 14/130

WOW, I would regear for 6s A123! I would not bother with the extra weight of 7 on a 500, mine with the stock motor really flies very well on 6s A123! this really is setup as a perfect heli for A123 and the stock motor and gearing seems to really like 6s

Nop, too heavy and strip the main gear too easy.

I have never had any problems with gears with 6s A123, althought I am running the micro heli main gear and stock 24t pinion. all I can say is 6s seems like the perfect setup on the HDX500, packs fit no problems balance is perfect and power is awesome! not to mention the stock motor seems to hold up just fine!
