I'm looking at picking up one of these two helis. I've read up on both and the MSH seems better, but it's still very new. Anyone have both or any insight on which to go for?

Do you know how to fly?

Well I have a CX2, and Realflight G4 (practiced for 6 months now) so I do know how to fly. I'd like to sport fly, no 3D. Looking at: T500, Protos, Logo 500.

If you go with the Logo 500 it is going to be difficult to find parts and they can get very pricey. If you go with the protos it is probably easier to find parts. And if you go with the T-REX 500 it is going to be very easy to find parts because everybody sells them and the parts are not going to be very expensive. Personally i would go with the T-REX 500. That is just my $.02.

As already mentioned, the Logo can get quite pricey. I don't know how the spare parts availability looks like in the US or Canada, but I would definitely take the supply situation in account.

I have or had both. The T-Rex500 I've sold already and the Protos is my newest project. The maiden flight was yesterday and I have to say that this thing rocks! Plenty of power and much more responsive at Roll and Nick than the T-Rex 500.

Well, I don't have long-term experience with the Protos but time will show....

I haven't flown the Protos but I Own a T-rex 500 and it has a very powerful set-up more than enough to do any kind of 3d ;).

But IMO as already stated I'd go for the one with the largest part availability with cheapest cost, especially if you crash a lot. That aside I'm sure you'd be happy with either one of these machines .

Those of you who've not yet flown a Protos and currently own another 500 size heli will be very pleasantly surprised how light and powerful the heli feels on the sticks in the air. I've had to dial my settings down on the Protos and still it is amazingly ample in power.

IMO, there simply is no comparison to the Protos and other 500 size heli's for performance. But if you are prone to crashing often, expect it to be a little less resilient to parts breaking. To me that is OK because I recognize the Protos is built to fly well in the air. I do not see crashing a factor to consider when you are looking performance in the air.

So for a newbie, you are probably better off with a TREX 500 due to crash cost. You may well be better off with a TREX 450V2 for the same reason.

I will vote for MSH Protos. It is much lighter and just as powerful. I use 6s A123.

I am building a Protos right now, and i would say the Trexes are basicly easier to build, and have better manuals, giving tips and stuff, something to consider for a noob....
