This info may already be posted somewhere, but I haven't found it after 2 days of reading till my eyes bleed :arggg:, so please indulge a newb and hook a brutha' up wit the 411...

Is the stock motor in the HDX500SE V2 (HDX500 Brushless Motor 850KV w/ Heat Sink [HDX500-BM850]) going to fry if I use Outrage 30C 6S1P 2200mah (22.2v) batteries with a Castle Creations 80 speed controller? The battery fits fine physically and doesn't appear to be too heavy (with everything installed the CG looks perfect!). If the stock motor doesn't cut it, what motor would you suggest?

Also, I have the stock 24 tooth pinion that came with the motor. Should I get a 20 or 22 tooth pinion for this setup? If so, any suggestions as to where to obtain it?

Thanks in advance,

Wyldman

Thanks for all of the input, guys. 45 views and not one comment. Is this that stupid a question?

Well, to give you some respite.....
Tested the 500 SE V1 (, fitted with the 130T main gear in a home modded SE V1 frame and 22t pinion, standard 850 motor and Hobbywing 60A ESC) with 2 x 3S 2200 Outrages
and no problem with motor frying- - LOTS of grunt but short , like 4 mins flying time

We've just ordered the Outrage 6s 3300 . To be used at first with the 850KV motor but planning to switch to a Scorpion 1210KV
Also upgraded the head to V2 with TRex 500 flybar paddles and cage - very responsive
Desperately waiting for V2 upgraded frame and the 6s 3300 ( all sold out as I type )

The motor won't be the problem, it is capable of running on 6s. if you stick with the original gear, I would recommend going down to a 15 or 16 tooth pinion.

Thank you!

Would you have a suggestion on where to obtain the proper 15 or 16 tooth pinion?

You can purchase one at Helidirect.com or readyheli.com or any dealer having parts for the T-Rex 500 available, because this is one standard pinion for this helicopter.
