Hey all
Just got an Hatori 999 for the stratus. Looks great but it appears to need a spacer of around 6mm between the engine and muffler.
Is this what everybody else has found with the new hatories? This has the new soft/hard mount for the muffler (it needs no rear support)
thanks

Glenn,
Not sure about the 999.
But there is several pilots here in the USA using the SB16 and SB17 that uses the new style header. They are using them on Stratus and I have never noticed any special spacer between the engine and header.
These mufflers have the header that uses the four grommets to hold the muffler in place.

I use the sp16 with the floating head design and it clears the canopy just fine.

How did you get it to clear the canopy on the Stratus?

I had to trim the canopy on the extreme and now the stratus for my SB-17 but it was no big deal.

Is it the same canopy for the exteme as for the stratus??

If your muffler hits the canopy on the extreme take the header back off and turn it 180. If you notice the header has a slight offset if you put it to the rear the muffler will clear the canopy with no trimming well at least on my extreme anyway. But you will have to trim your fan shroud.

how do you know?
^^
Fred
I recently went from all MP2 to all Hatori after trying one, quieter, no loose bolts or breaking parts, and to top it off - more power.

WE held the SB 18 up next to the muffler on Eric's Stratus at the IRCHA SE event.
The SB 18 was the same as the muffler on Eric's Stratus.
Get the SB 18 from RHR for the Stratus. The SB 18 is about 1 inch longer than the SB 17. So it will help the engine breathe and run better. Eric's engine runs great using that muffler.
Everything will be with the SB 18 to mount it on the engine.
