Alright, so I've never flewn an RC Heli before. After working the simulator for a good two weeks i felt ready.

I drive out to a field and as soon as i connect the battery to the chopper the engine goes on maximum speed, all by itself. Note that the chopper is brand new. So even though the rudders were in neutral the engine was doing maximum speed. So the main gear which is made of plastic masically got trimmed down so that the engine gear no longer reaches the main gear, since the main gear is trimmed down, and too 'short'. Any idea why this happened?

Alright, so now I changed the main gear, but am to afraid of flying that beast again =)
Any ideas on the problem by the way?

thanks guys!

Sounds like you had the Idle up switch on. It should be pushed back away from you to be in the off position.

Did you read the manual?????

Rudders were Neutral??? whats that??? are you talking about the Radio Sticks???

Here is how you STart up your Heli, the proper way (Read the Manual unless you want to get really hurt)

1. Turn on your Radio
2. Make sure your Throttle stick and the Trim for the throttle stick is all the way down.
3. Make sure the Idle Up switch on the top Left of the radio is pushed BACKWARDS AWAY FROM YOU .. NEVER MOVE THIS SWITCH UNLESS Y OU KNOW HOW TO FLY!! AND NEVER HAVE IT FORWARD DURING STARTUP.

4. Plug in your battery to the Helicopter.
5. Move the right Stick in all directions to make sure your swashpalte is moving properly and all servos are working.

6. Stand back and slowly raise the throttle.

After this point i cannot help you , it takes practice and no simulator will teach you how to get off the ground and what the heli will do as its trying to get off the ground, its something you have to learn.

Yeah I did have the idle up off.

So before I even flew this machine i ordered a bunch of spare parts from Hongkong, figuring i'd need them in the future, my spare parts arsenal consists of:

Wooden main blade (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=479)Carbon Fibre Main Blade (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=286) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=286)Hard Metal Special Shaft (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=849) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=849)Carbon fibre Paddle (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=332) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=332)Carbon fibre tail blade (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=333) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=333)Carbon Fibre Tail Boom (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=170) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=170)FlightSIM Cable (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=190)Flybar (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=88)Main Blade Sustain Set (2pcs) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=423) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=423)Main Gear (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=91) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=91)Plastic Tail Blade (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=56) (http://www.rc711.com/shop/account.php?action=cust_order&pid=56)Training Set (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=476)

So obviously now I need to buy Main Gear Set, and not only the main gear (silly me) unfortunately I live in Sweden, so I order the parts from Hong Kong for 10th of the price here. Anything else I should go on and order while I'm at it?

Thank you for all the help guys! I really appreciate it!

Do you mean you had it off (switch back) or on (switch forward).

What position was the throttle stick when you plugged the battery in?
it should be fully down not central

Carbon fiber main blades are probably not a good Idea for a beginner as they break quite easily and cost more than the wooden ones.

Oh, alright. I can't really remember to be honest, but I think it was in the middle, not down.

Regarding the main blades, i got a big set of wooden blades (5 sets)

In the middle the bird would spin up, if it was all the way up it would not innitialize.

could have saved some money and gotten 2 sets of align blades which would have helped you out much better in flying. Esky blades suck
