Send readyheli a message asking for a package. They'll save you a decent amount vs throwing a bunch of parts in the cart and it will be a package worth having. If I didn't find a clean used package I would have gone that route.

Hey SirCrashaLott,

I know you said you wanted recommendations of US companies to buy your Hurricane from, and I can respect that. I started my shopping adventure for my Hurricane the same way.

However, if price is also important to you, Flying-hobby.com could not be beat, at least I couldn't find anything to compare back on May 23, 2008 when I placed my order. If I compared apples to apples, I saved around $250 over anything else with Flying-hobby.com's prices. I ordered one of their combos, a Spektrum DX7, and a Li-Po charger, with shipping, my total order was a hair over $1,100.

The only issue that I heard about from flying-hobby.com is with people who ordered the "Ready to Fly" combos, where flying-hobby will assemble and test fly your setup before shipping. I believe there were two cases of dented tail booms that I read about here on Helifreak. As an option, you can request to "build it yourself" when you order, and that's what I did. EVERY ITEM was what I ordered, was brand new in original packaging, with English documentation.

The ONLY issue that I had with flying-hobby is that it took them longer than expected to actually ship the goods. Once I got notification that it left their dock, however, it was on my doorstep in less than 4 days.

Good luck to you! Happy shopping!

I have purchased from both rediheli and Helidirect and never had a problem with either.

Helidirect has also taken back a few items with no problem....and the last item they just refunded my $$ directly to paypal and told me to keep it.....it wasn't worth the effort.

So....anyone that wants a free pair of orange landing skids...the first one to PM me and pay the postage they are yours...... They are the stock size and are advertised on their website as wider landing gear.....that must be the name of the company because they are not any wider...

it's just the plastic struts not the pipes...I will never use them so if anyone wants them let me know....They cost about $6....yours for the shipping....

Sorry for the Hijack..

I have also purchased a number of times items from both Readyheli.com and Helidirect.com and never had a problem with either.

Helidirect once have wrongly advertise an item for Hurricane were in reality was only fit to use for trex450, they have refunded my $$ directly to paypal and told me to keep it.....it wasn't worth the effort.

Anyhow really happy with to buy items from both.

Got mine from William at Turbo Fan Electrics.com. He's a member here and over at RC Groups and his prices were, well, you know, ahh low! I spec'ed it out and he ordered all the spares and I'm in the process of building now.

Keep in mind that he can't build 'combos' like Flying Hobby and Ready Heli and swap parts and stuff around like different motors and ESC's then come with the kits; BUT if you want the parts outright you're probably all set. I got the Standard combo; ESC, BEC and Motor, with a ton of spares and over the competition I'd say I saved some bucks, I'll just put it that way...

Not to dis' RH or FH, I know I'll be getting stuff from likely both of them in the future.

Happy Flying!

Drew...onceyou have everything...then it's a matter of getting replacement parts "QUICK"...

If you have a local guy you can get them from, you are lucky......no one I know around me carries them...and if so, I can't get time off to get there....

Order on-line...here in about 2 -3 days...

Break it on the weekend....and fly the next !! I also have a spare CF I'm starting to build and have used it for fast spare parts.

Yeah, and that's where I see ReadyHeli coming into this picture since in essence you've have to be a full dealer or have a stockpile of gear to be able to just send the needed parts out ASAP. But since I don't intend on crashing the 550, this is really an academic discussion. ;);) Well, I can dream anyway...

Happy Flying!

At my age....if I fix it real quick.....I forget I crashed it.....as long as I don't at the CC statement I'm home free !!

Had about $100 crash not long ago because of a #$%%$# spider....but maybe I just dreamed that....

Love this heli....most fun I have had since Viagra came out !! :banana Tha't the Viagra bananna !!
