I finally got the nerve to try a loop for the first time. Now this was after work and probably to close to dark to be trying something new. I got the heli (Blade 400) up to about 30 feet and decided to go for it. I came home from work with the conviction I was going to try it or crash it. Maybe even both at the same time.

I went to full throttle and pulled back on the elev and over she goes! Well I call it a loop but it looked more like a 1st grader's 9. I scared myself so badly I forgot to hit the flight mode switch. I was still shaking in my shoes and wondering why I tried that. So I did what any insane heli pilot would do, I did it again! Only this time I was in throttle up and the loop was much closer to round than a 9. :YeaBaby:

I was Sooooooooooooo proud of myself I decided to land and call it a night as it was getting dark. I was so smug with myself I pulled into a 2' hover and pulled the throttle back to land and promptly drove the thing into the ground, seems Mr Idjut forgot to flip the switch back to normal:wow2:

So my first two loops cost me a grand total of $3 for a new set of landing gear. All in all a good day for me. Only been flying heli's about 2 months so I think it was a grand success.

hehe good job. A true figure 9 ends up taking a soil sample :D

When you do a loop are you using negative or neutral pitch as you get close to the top or just ease off the right stick?

A tad of negative but even neutral is usually enough to carry you over with enough forward speed.

Great job bro! It's an awesome feeling!

Oh and there is no need to flip back to normal to land...just land at mid stick. Or even better, bring it close and hit TH...that's how I fly now. I don't use normal mode ever anymore.
