The GY-401 is not only a good gyro, its considered one of the best. Its all I use and I have two of them, one on a B400 and the other on a Raptor V2 0S37, Iam sure there are better gyros out there but this one is easy to setup and they hold the tail very well.

Best regards, Bud.

GY401 is a great gyro. i know guys use them on everything from a gaui 200, all the way up to a 90 size.

You'll probably want a larger servo than the 9650. Maybe the 9254.

i would not put a mini servo on a .30 sized heli. some would argue, but i still wouldn't do it. too many pros say no.

I just got my Raptor today and it has a Futaba FP-S148 servo for the tail. Can I use that servo with the Futaba GY401 in HH mode? Sorry about the dumb questions guy's but im new .

Futaba FP-S148 is ancient and almost completely unsuitable for a tail servo. I used these servos on steering and throttle in Nitro RC 1/8th scale buggies around 6 years ago! These are VERY outdated in comparison to high tech tail servo's such as the BLS251 & 9256.

I'd get that off as quick as you can, it shouldn't be used as a tail servo.

Do not even think about putting the FS148, that is an old servo. the 401 is a great servo but, I am not sure but the 9650 is a MICRO-SERVO, I have it in my t-rex450. I am not sure it can handle a nitro, check about that....

Don't use the 9256 with the 401. It is designed for the 611. They have a different pulse rate.

Do not use the 9650 either as it is a Micro servo designed for the smaller helis.

Use a 9253 or a 9254 with the 401 for the 30.

I hovered it with the Thunder Tight TG 8000 gyro and Futaba FP-S148 servo and it did'nt do too bad (thats what it came with). The S9650 should be way better than the FP-S148 servo, its a $6.00 dollar servo at my hobby shop and $10.00 on ebay.Im going to be looking for a 9253 in a week or 2 or as soon as my Trex 450 sells.Im not going to be doing flips ect.. anytime soon with and alot of people are telling me it will be good for for sport flying(nothing fast) so i'll use the S9650 intill I get a 9253..
