Hi all,

I have just ventured into the nitro heli scene. I fly electrics and decided it was time to have a go with the nitro birds. I am not new to nitro as I have raced nitro tuggies/trucks so I reasonable confident in that respect.

Anyways, I bought a Raptop Titan 50 and would like to know what sort of gear is most common on these birds? Dont worry about a gyro choice, I will most likely use a 401. Also could you let me know if I require anything else like a governor or voltage regulator. I read a little about these but am not certain as to whether they are required or are optional extras.

Also are there any good build threads or sites similar to the ones Finless does for Trexs'?

Cheers

Everyone has there preference in servos so I hate to give advice in this area, but it is undisputed, do not use the spectrum servos that come with the radio in a heli larger than 30 size. Speed and torque is basicly what can you afford? Hope this link helps http://www.hobbylisting.com/html/servo/servo_frameset.html

This is a good gyro but I have not had good luck in getting the tail to stay stationary with this gyro, I use the JR equivalent G500T in two of my helis, the other 2 use the Futaba 611.

No and Yes/No, No on the governor, you need to learn to fly ungoverned. Add this after you have gone into forward flight if you desire but it is not necessafy. Voltage regulator, depending on what voltage your battery will be. I have not had good luck recently with 4.8 battery packs and plan to convert my heli to 7.2, (with a brand new battery pack I'm only able to get 2-3 flights till I need to recharge, my new heli is using Lithium Mangnesium and can fly almost all weekend with out charging). But this increases the cost of parts in the heli and field gear needed.

Hope this helps

Ok looks like I may go with a similar setup to my T600.

How does this sound:

3 x Hitec HS6975 for cyclic
1 x Futaba S9254 for rudder with GY401. (I may change this gyro not sure.I have had good results)
1 x ???? for throttle (not sure yet)
Will I have to use a voltage step down for the rudder servo. Similar to the align one?

Thanks
