I fly at 6000ft above see level. Are there any other high altitude flyers out there that would think it would be helpful to have this option in Phoenix? I think it would be helpful to be able to set your altitude in the sim and have it effect your models engine and aerodynamic performance as it does so unkindly in real life
Thats alot of work for a very niche market :(

It's not alot of work at all. Air density is a variable in the physics of the sim...it's already in there and set to sea level. Having that as a user definable setting would not be hard to implement...certainly not as hard as adding a new heli or flying field which they do with regularity. I use a physics (ballistic trajectory) program in my line of work that I coded myself so I know it's not a big deal to change the air density. If I was anymore of a nerd I would be able to crack into Phoenix and change it myself but I'm not so I can't.
Cool but that assumes that they took the air pressure into account in all the equations. You really can't tell where and how they used the variable.

You could decrease engine power and blade lift to simulate the effect. It would be a guess though as to how much.

the decreased power is easy as it's a rule of thumb that combustion engines loose about 5% per 1000 in elevation. the hard part trying to tweak it the way it is as you said decreasing the lift but it has side effects. simply making the disk smaller has un-wanted cyclic effects.

Easy! Move to somewhere at sea level! :)

HAH.....wish it was that easy! But when I do get a rare occasion to venture down the mountain...wow...you guys at sea level have no idea how good you got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just wish I could make my machines pop in real life half as good as the stock models do in Phoenix. But that isn't a problem when I fly at lower elevations...only up here in the mountains :(
