I was f*rting around in the livingroom today, and noticed that I very often get a "zipping" noise from the tail, and have accumulated some wear on the tailrotor blades.
After a quick look by me, which was noticed by G.F., and followed up with a thorough investigation, we found that the tailrotor was leaving 1/2" long marks on the new carpet.
They rubbed out okay, but this proceedure was met with looks, scowls, and, I think a call to the FAA.
Soo, I made a tail "support platform" for the end of my tailpost. I made it out of that *@&^% plastic packaging I get my musket flints in. The stuff you have to rip apart and send your stuff flying, or attack with scissors. Just cleaned the grease off with a little rum, and CA'd it on.
Works pretty good, no more tailrotor strikes on carpet, grass or sand. I think this one has already saved me a set of tailrotors. About a dozen flights so far and it has yet to fall off.
