Hello I was just wondering I've just ordered a jive 100 and kora 15/14 motor for my lepton and I was wondering if I am ok to trim the esc wires a bit for a neater install.
Thank you
Danny

You can shorten the ESC cables. Don't do that on motors if you have hard cables. They are the winding end! Some motors, like the Hacker A30XL, have silicon cables and can be shortened.

Thanks for the reply, the motor wires was gonna be my next question so I'll leave the motor wires alone and just shorten the esc ones.
Thanks again.
danny.

Yes, Kora motors are exactly the kind of motors with cables you must not shorten. They are in fact the winding ends! It's the only "problem" on this motors. They are really very good about the rest.

what's the big deal about shortening winding ends? I mean wires are wires right? As long as you remove any insulation prior to soldering what could the harm be?

Wires are coated except at the end for soldering. Shortening them makes the solder very hard to do. So it's a better idea not to try to. That's all.

So, if you shorten them you just need to make sure you sand off any insulation prior to soldering like you do when working with magnet wire?

basically, yes.

Why would you want to shorten Kora wires anyway? Those that I've seen are only a little over an inch long...
