Hey guys finally after a month or so i finallly got my bird in the air. But right off the bat taking off nose in just leans to the right kinda bad even in flight. I tried to lenghten the linkages to swash in the field to correct the problem but it was still all over the place. At that point i should of gone home and made the nesscary adjustments. Any way i ended losing control and went into the ground nose first even though i throttled up and tried to pull her up. thats another problem i had pulling back on the cyclic it had a very sluggish response. Ah i gottta go my wifes yelling at me .

Sorry to hear about your crash ( and your wife :))
Someting I've learned, if the heli or me don't feel right, stop flying a crash is imminent.
I hope your damage isn't to bad.

Thanks ber, the crash actually wasn't really that bad considering were i had throttle when it hit the ground. Just a bent feather shaft , broken linkage, and flybar. Unfortunately i don't have a spare feathering shaft for my hdx head. Does anybody now if the align shafts fit in them. I think my lhs should have them if they do.
Any way i really thought i had this thing set up perfect. I mean i thought i might have to do some minor adjustments but nothing like the problems it was giving me. But as i said it was drifting to the right bad and i really had to pull back on the cyclic stick to get it to go backwards(nose in orientation). The swash is level. All of the set up was close to dead on,(pitch range, arms lining up right, blade tracking etc). The only thing i'm thinking right now is my CG. I just installed a 40a hobbywing esc and a seprate bec. And i installed it all on one side of the frame. Here are a couple of pics, tell me if you guys see something thats not right.

Sorry to hear about the crash. If nothing else seems out of place, I would give those bell cranks and the front linkage system a very thorough once-over... I ended up retiring the whole plastic frame when they started getting loose and wouldn't tighten down any more. Feels just like you describe when they start shaking loose on the frame.
Not 100% sure on the T-Rex feathering shaft compatibility... But I do know the Align HS1003Ts are about 2 mm shorter than the 3x42 mm HDX shafts I have.

Hi Tom,
Sorry to hear of your crash, I dont know if this is the same thing but when I first put my copter x head on my belt after a few flights the washout arm links tightened themselves on to the washout arms partialy siezing the cyclic control and requiring a lot of of input to keep it level, I cant remember if it drifted left or right but it was strange to see the swash tilted when the heli was hovering on the spot. Im not sure if this is even possible on the HDX head as the washout arm links are metal and probably wont grip the arms if they are too tight. May be worth checking though.
I dont think the ESC and BEC can be throwing the cog out though

Thanks for the replies guys. Its probably something in the set up im missing. Ordered the new parts, will go at it again next weekend.

It sounds like tight ball links. When you correct with opposite cyclic commands does it want to bugger way off that way and when you correct back it buggers off the other way.Like you just cant keep up?

Ya I think your right, now that you mention it . 2 of the links were a little tight when i put it together. I forgot to mess with them. Thanks thunderhead , i will definitly address that issue.

Leaning to the right with nose facing you? Thats normal from the torque of the heli.
Now if you said Leaning to the right with Tail Facing you then thats your flybars are not level and have a negative attack angle on them at Zero Cyclic.
check your wording above and let me know.. and check to make sure your at Zero Degrees on the flybar Cage and Paddles at Level Swash.

Na it was leaning almost uncontrollably. I'm gonna check those paddles to when i do the rebuild. It might of been the paddles, i just kinda eyed them and im not to sure how right they were with the cage.
