Not sure if anyone has any idea what the problem with my OS 50 is.
I believe that a gasket was somehow sucked into the engine, at this point the engine backfired and stopped running.
Now the engine is very hard to start and sometimes makes a pop sound when trying to turn over, it could be metal on metal I don't know.
I took the engine apart and looked for the gasket and didnt see it. Any ideas?
is the engine toast?

What gasket are you looking for?

I doubt a gasket has gone through it, the only one is a metal one that sits under the carb and thats impossible to get sucked through unless the carb comes off.If there is no sign of damage to the internals then i would suspect something has gone astray in the muffler.

The problem was it wasnt the standard metal gasket, since I got an MP5 it didnt come with a gasket so the LHS sold me a "paper type" gasket that I cut to size and installed.
Sure enough after I heard the engine backfire I took the muffler off and the gasket was gone.
I pulled the engine apart and couldn't find it. I still dont know if the gasket ended up in the engine or the muffler.
I just put a new align pipe on and it still has trouble starting and makes that weird sound when I attempt to start. Also it takes 5-10 min to start, used to start first turn right away.

ok so its the exhaust gasket, and there is no damage to the engine internals, did you fit a new glow plug?,did you strip the entire engine? it is possible part of the gasket went into the engine then got spat out, check the head seal.

Turns out the engine and pipe are fine. I bought a new os 50 today and align pipe and the problem still occured.
The sound I was hearing is actually the clutch assembly scraping the inside of the clutch bell. Not sure why this is happening but its the cause of all the problems.
Thanks for everyones responses and PM's on this.
