Blade 400, all standard but HS65-HB's installed.

I have just started to get my heli off the ground and all is great until it starts to drift... well, pretty much immediately it will drift left (roll that is) as expected.

My problem is countering the roll. I find as soon as I counter the roll, I induce pitch also so the heli also starts to move backwards or forwards. I'm sure it isn't stick control as obviously roll and pitch are on different sticks!! (Oh yeah I'm using Mode 1 if it makes a difference, collective and roll on one stick dunno if you guys have collective and roll on same stick??)

Anyway, it is really annoying as I pop it up 2ft high, it is stable with a tiny left roll for 2 sec. I counter, as it starts to roll right I correct again so it doesn't keep going right. By the time roll is corrected 2 sec later it is whizzy forwards or backwards.
The pitch direction seems random so it is not like I can be ready for it.

Is there something mechanically wrong or is this something everybody does and they get used to it???

:arggg:

I think that there can be a couple of reasons for this behaviour. First the center of gravity of the helicopter can be not appropriate. You can check and adjust it easily.
Second, it can be due to ground effect which is not likely at an altitude of two feet.
Third, it can be the wind factor.
The fourth probable reason is mechanical inaccuracies of the servos and servo horns/pushrods. Your helicopter has a 120 degrees swashplate which requires harmonic action of the three main servos. Any asymmetry or play in the connections can lead to such problems. If your heli would drift always backwards or forwards after a certain roll input I would recommend fine tuning the SWASH AFR settings on your transmitter (this is for Futaba radios and I think there can be other definitions on other brands for the same purpose). But as it goes sometimes backwards and sometimes forwards with certain roll inputs I think the most probable cause is some play in the pushrods / servos.
