I went to a LHS (1/2 mile from home, all they have is a single Swift and CX2 for heli's) to see if I could find a motor to try in one of the 200s. All they had was E-flite motors. I looked at a 400 and a 420 ducted fan motor . 400 was too big and the 420 I was scared of becaue of the amp draw question and the KV.

The 420 is 3800kv. Anyone know what the amp draw would be? Wonder if I could run a stock pinion?

I sure hate the Gaui motor bog when punching out. I stuck a 400 inrunner in a CP Pro a year ago (was insane) but I'd do the E-flite 400 outrunner if I though I wouldn't fry a Gaui 12amp ESC.

Nevermind, got the info. I think I'm gonna skip this motor.

Buzz have you considered the Z power 5150kv?

I've looked at them, I think I need more powerful motor. The High KV has low torque, the high torque has low KV (rpm) so it's kinda like the chicken and the egg thing. I think I might go with the E-flite after all and slap a 30amp ESC on there. Maybe. Would be insane power.

Took a closer look at the Z-power motor you mentioned. It's rated at max. 19amp draw. I wonder if I put my Pheonix 18 with that motor if it would still bog?

I'm running the Gaui 12 amp with my Z power motor. Finally got around to taching the headspeed Sunday. At midstick in idle up 2 my throttle curve is 87.5% hs is 4520, I am running mostly Idle up 1 which is 67.5% at mid stick and hs is still 3750. I am getting 5:30 flight times and putting back 590 mah in a 850 Kong pack

Kyle Stacy is testing a Scorpion motor for the little Gaui 200 at the moment. I think this motor will be the way to go if you like to do hard 3D. Unfortunately there is no release date or specs on it for now.
We'll see.
