OK, heres the scoop.after having some problems with motor mounts breaking, and outrunner bell housings cracking on my shark 450 (art-tech), i made my own mount on an end-mill with aircraft aluminum, and changed motors from the BL 2215-450 (Power the World) i put a 15T pinion on the I.K.E Power 3800kv Ice Cold motor, played with the curves a bit on the first pack, and man! i think i found what i like (but another problem!).....

anyways ill explain, im running 335mm carbon blades, there 34mm wide..... originally they were the carbon blades that came with my BH500 se pro, bit the ends were damaged. i cut them down to exactly 335mm, and repaired the ends using vinyl-ester resin. i repaired the ends then even balanced them with the vinyl ester.... so there repaired very well (i used to be a fiberglass mold builder)

anyways, with these blades, and a 15T pinion, and what seems like a decent headspeed im off, it flies just awesome! i played with the pitch curve, mine gives me decent pop, and hovers well at around 50%, so i fly the second pack, and after about three minutes in it just looses power. i think, "man that battery (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=4932) didnt last long".

so i go to the garage, get another one, this is giving it about 5 minutes between packs. on the third, i fly for 2:30 seconds and it just falls, i almost couldnt land it...... i looses power so quick. now im thinking, "these packs cant be dead!"..... i disconnect and feel the esc (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=5300) is real hot. almost too hot to hold on to. the motor is quite warm too, but not hot.

i see on my cellpro 4s charger that the packs are still around 55% full.... what the heck? is the esc overheating? the motor cant be if its not terribly hot, can it? could it be that the bigger blades are making the motor draw too much for the esc? im running the stock yellow esc that came with my shark. i think its rated 30A, if im right. ;-)

tomorrow ill try the align 325 pro woodies again, but i sure liked the rip of these "Kustom Karbons" :-), im just curious as to what is causing this? the 15T pinion on the 3800kv motor? my headspeed doesnt seem insanely high. and i dont think it too low. it just baffles me, as i get a decent combo going for power, and this happens......totally unexpected :-)

if i need a bigger esc, i'll get another 40A Turnigy Plush, as i have one in my BH, and i have the program card for the turnigy esc's. heh, that means i may as well order some other stuff, if im just getting an esc from hobbycity.... maybe another 4s zippy ;-) ah, man, here we go again.......

maybe someone can shed some light on this for me, and save me from myself. ! ;-) :wow2:
