I use the CF gear on my Gaui's and got to looking at the brass spacers after ripping a crown gear. I rambled around my parts boxes and noticed an old Futabe 9454 servo case with parts inside (the're great for that). The "eyes" or whatever you call those brass spacers that come with servos are called caught my eye. After looking closer I noticed that they are about twice as tall as the spacers supplied for the landing skids from Gaui. So what the heck?

I used a exacto knife to reem the holes of the gear and frame (careful not to make the holes too big) and installed the Futaba "eye" thingys.I have about an inch and a quater (1 1/4") clearance from the tail fin to the ground now. The heli looks good like this IMO, gives it an tough stance. Thought I'd share.

just increase the distance between rear legs & ground ? looks safe for your shaft tail

That looks good - gives it a more aggressive look. I like it.:Bang

Thanks guys. I stayed up all night tinkering with various helis and small projects. Sometimes time just stands still when your working.

bob calls them eyelets. my skids do a good job keeping it off the ground.

Excellent!

I'm gonna later try spreading the front gear support to the same effect.
Lighter & does not require the parts, but we'll see how it works.
