Sorry for being a pain, I need help in figuring out which intrepid would suit my flying. Mainly Sport Flying. The EB is really big and therefore COOL but I'm thinking the same powerplant and frame swinging those larger blade will give better lifting but not better flight performance. Your thoughts on this.......soon to pull the trigger.
Bergen Intrepid Gasser EB $ 1520.00/$1500.00
Fiberglass white gelcoated canopy $ 75.95
Constant driven tail system $ 152.95
Bergen Torpedo style muffler for G26 $ 200.00
Futaba 611 w/LCD/S9256 $ 379.99
Futaba GV-1 Governor $ 170.00
NHP 800mm main blades $ 130.00 (V Blades 710mm same price)
Z-RC Aluminum carb insulator block $ 35.00
JRPS8717 Digital Ultra Spd MGX4 $109.99/$ 439.96 Total: $3103.85
or with
Spartan DS760 Gyro $ 219.99
JRPS8900G Ultra Speed T/R 4.8V $ 109.99/$329.98 Total: $3053.84
PS I did not add Fromeco Arizona Regulator Deans IN $ 69.99

For unlimited flying, you might wanna add a Jewel RC generator, $225 for Bergens including mount. :)
EB will not buy you a whole lot unless you plan on lifting heavy payloads. A standard Intrepid will fly just fine and also lift a camera if you are interested in aerial photography. Gassers are big anyways and they are pretty stable as is.

Everything there sounds good. I'm rather curious to know how the Spartan gyro would work on the big gasser! That being said, if you're looking for pure sport flying, a GY401 would probably be more than enough. On some of the other forums here people have been talking about the 770 gyro from JR -- it's $10 more than a 401 and is supposed to have a lot better piro consistency and holding power than the 401.
As for the battery, I'm quite happy with a NiCd pack from here: http://www.hangtimes.com/giantrxpacks.html Scroll down to the next-to-last item on the page (Sanyo 2400). Down the road I'll install a generator too.

Raja that was next on my list. Will I need the regulator then y/n and will it work with the DS8717's?

Paul I have the 770 on my Skippy and would like to try something else.

The generator will not work with Lithium batteries. You will have to switch to NiCd or NiMh.
Re: 770 -- sounds reasonable! :-)

Running the 7703D and 8900 combo on my EB - great holding power

regular Bergen gasser with short blades and tail boom is you better choice for sport flying. But, as Rbort said, it also works fine for AP. I've been using the Durilite batteries for about 4 years with great sucess. Heli command also very good, but like many of the things on your list of choices, not a necessity.

While keeping things simple with the generator is mostly desired, that's why I run them with 4 cell NiCDs or NiMH packs.
But recently some folks have expressed interest in using lipos with the generator, and I do have some 8.5v and 12.6v regulators on order for that purpose. When you fly the generator takes over and powers your machine, so the battery is merely standby but if you want higher voltages that you'll get with lipos, that's that the higher voltage regulators are for.
Personally I've been flying my generators for over 3 years with 4 cell NiCD/NiMH packs and its been great, but soon I'll have more options and be more flexible to what people want.
Terry, if you run everything on 5.4v you won't need the arizona regulator. If you want to run the servos at higher voltages and regulate down for the gyro/rudder servo, then you'll need it.

I would agree with Seahawk. :clapppless weight and no need of ballast to offset extended tail boom. :smokin:
wouldn't bother with the constant drive tail boom unless you are doing 3d inverted autos.
I would consider 9202 or 9203 servos. For this size I think the analogs work fine.
401 works fine for gyro but also had success with CSM SL560. You can tweak it more to your liking with a laptop. I prefer it over the 401.
Nicads work great especially with the Jewel generator. I need to get one. :noteworthy
EB if you are at 10k feet  or want to carry heavier loads..
