A friend is willing to sell me an old Shuttle I think it is the original he never built it but he is now missing some parts. Could I find them? Is it worth building? I would have to bye an engine and all the electronics as his stuff is too old.
Thanks for any help

The Shuttle is a pretty solid platform, I have learned a lot flying mine. Depending on price I would buy it as a trainer. You can get almost all of the parts for it from heliproz or other online shops. I would buy either an os 37 for the power or try to find a 32 pull start, the belt start is kind of a pita.

okay so the guy is willing to guy is willing to give it to me for the $110 he owes me but the distributor said the same thing it is $129 to upgrade to a top start so is it worth it? It does come with an OS .32 i am thinking that for that price it might be worth the pain of a belt starter. what do you think?

A guy at our club flies several with the old belt start. He has it down to a science.:YeaBaby:
My first was a pull start, that broke... I spent the bucks and went shaft. The shaft start isn't bullet proof either as the one-way bearing in the clutch bell and the coupler shaft require a good amount of maintenance unless you like the sound of a goose honking in your ear.

I would propbaly buy it for $110, I have spent more than that on crash repairs for a bad auto. Too bad that 32 isnt pull start, I love mine.

I got the Shuttle and it was a very poor build so I am missing some bearings, the cooling fan, and engine mount. I think if I can get the one the other guy is trying to sell I should be able to get one going.

Absolutely!, I literally just came back from the field having crashed one of my two and a half shuttles. Lost the tail drive belt & couldn't land soft enough whilr pirouetting... But I will continue rebuilding & flying them until I can't get parts. Dive in!!!! Good luck

I thought it was Shuttle +2 not 2+... :thinking

Sorry, I need to clarify. I have two separate shuttle helis & +/- 75% of the parts for a third that I really use as a set of spares. these are the older, belt start types, but they do have the underslung flybars. As of late I've been tempted to get another newer .50/.60 size one, but have not decided which model to go with yet.

No need to clarify, it was just a poor attempt at a joke. :o
