Here's the background. I'm building a new heli, which is going to use the newer Align 35X ESC with 6 volt BEC. I'm planning to use a 401 as the gyro and want to make sure the two are going to play well in the sandbox.

I measured the output from the BEC (and rec'r rudder channel pins) and I'm seeing 6.1 volts. I checked the specs on the 401 and they say a max of 6 volts. Checked with Futaba and they say it needs to be knocked down to 5.8 max. I'm wondering if the vendor isn't saying yes it needs to be reduced just as a CYA.

So my question, is there anybody out there running the 35X without a step down regulator right into a 401 gyro. And/or can anybody shed light on if this is something safe to do or if I'll fry the gyro?

Thanks,
John G.

Its not going to hurt the gyro.

Make sure the tail servo is rated for 6v or run a step down.

I know more than one person that has used the GY 401 with 9254 servo on regulated 6 volts. They had no problems and have many flights on the setup.
Also know of a couple that have used the GY401/9254 on a 6 volt nicad pack with no regulator. That pack gets to 7.2-7.4 volts or more when fully charged.
