has anyone done a DIY retract system on this scale kit.

It's the one from EF with the horrible instructions and silly wooden mounting setup.

I'm trying to design a CF mount that will incorporate retractable landing gear.

I'm looking for ideas, gotchas and keeping a focus on staying as light as possible.

maybe I should be asking if anyone has built this particular shogun scale setup. There seems to be plenty of info on the JMD version but scarce little on the EF kit other than bad press on the instructions which I don't find to be a problem really.

can you post the details and maybe some photos of how you did it? I have the Gaui fuselage but havent mounted it yet.

First I scanned through the instructions and then wadded them up....useless junk.

I should have left the windshield and not cut it out. the clear plastic supplied is very heavy and doesn't fit well. I cut my own windows from very thin clear plastic and tinted them...glued them in with CA.

Here are some pictures of the LG

I cut the fuselage into three pieces...the nose, bottom under LG, and top including boom (four if you count the tail access hatch piece). This gives me quick access to the mechanics without having to remove the tail gear case.

Here is a video of testing the mechanics....

Here is a video of the maiden flight - it was touchy and my hands were shaking... :?

And one from at the gym last night.....still shaky

I'm at work and don't have the time for a proper post on all of it right now so this will have to do for the moment. Sorry
