I am waiting for my 550 to arrive, and I was just looking the specs of both 200 and 100 EP. I would like to have a small "brother" of my 550 for flying inside my living room, but are those small helis designed for such a reason ?
I currently have a Esky Lama for that reason. Is it worth the extra money to get the Gaui 200 or 100 ? Which is better for that reason according to your opinion ?
Thanks

a better solution for a common size living room is a 4#3B walkera IMO,
which can actually fly in that space.
everything else is too big, except you just want to hover,
in this case any will do.

A lot of people think because it's small you could fly it in the house. And I will say if you are Bert K, Alan Z, Matt B, or Jason K. sure you can fly it in the bathroom while you sit on the thrown. But with headspeeds around 4000 rpm and higher it's still a flying lawn mower without a deck and you can hurt yourself, someone else, or the cat, not to mention the re-decorating it could do if it gets away from you and it will. If all you want to do is hover in the house, although ill-advised, that can be done.

Ditto,
Hovering in the house is about the limit. If you're Nick Maxwell, well, he took it out to the garage....

It is a very difficult little heli to fly, and it can on no way be compared to the Esky Lama.
If you do not have plenty of room around the Gaui 200 your heli will be "hit" by its own down wash coming back from the floor and the walls.
I plan to fly mine in the local gym this coming winter, - but no flying in my living room for me, with other helis than my CX2

Wish I could say I didn't hover in my living room but then you'd all know I was lying.
Got some great space in the basement just have to organize it and set up the new Gaui lab. Done a little nose in down there and like others have said, one wrong move and your out of space before you can correct.

Ok got it ;)
Sorry for the stupid question.....
Why should anyone buy the 100 or the 200 EP then, and not the 550 instead ?

You can't compare the two - at all.
The 550 is a "normal" size heli, the 200 is tiny - about the same size as a CX2

First of all really there are no stupid questions...
For me, the 550 is WAY too big! My Trex 450 is actually bigger than I would like.
Watch the video of Burt K. flying in his friends back yard. There would be no way to fly a 550 like that in that kind of space.
When I fly my 450 I like to have roughly a whole football/soccer field all to myself. I find I can do all the same stuff with the Gaui 200 in half of the space. I often take both with me to the park in case I cannot find enough room to fly the T450
With the G200 I have enough room to hover around all orientations and do small circles in my basement (but rarely do b/c there really isn't too many ways to get out of trouble down there... And the cats never leave me alone down there!)
In my back or front yard I have room to go out and actually fly, but once again the consequences of loosing it here are much higher than at the park mostly do to chain link fences and trees (also cars and houses). If I try to fly the 450 in my yard I do NOT have enough room to do anything but slowly hover around.
Now, if you happen to have an indoor flying location, like a Gym, warehouse, LARGE garage... That is where the Gaui 200 will really shine. I hope to get enough practice outside this summer with both the G200 and the T450 that this winter I will be controlled enough to fly the G200 indoor in a LARGE garage as well or nearly as well as I can fly it outside.
I also like the $20 batteries I can buy 4 for the price of one for the T450.
In the end it comes down to what YOU really want to do. The advice given to you so far has all been very truthful advice. I would NOT buy the Gaui 200 just to fly in the living room on rainy days...

Wait up,
That was in no way a *stupid* question.
Actually, it was very insightful and proactive.

do i have to put main blades on the 200 to fly it, or will the flybar do? <---- now that's a stupid question. anything short of that will be answered happily by any number of 200 pilots. what do you think this is, the aerial photography forum?:YeaBaby:

I agree with everyone and aside from everything they've mentioned, the 200 is more of a challenge to fly than bigger helis, like the 550, which makes it fun. If you can get really good at flying the 200, you can probably fly anything IMO. For me, ever since I started flying my 200 regurlarly, my 400 sized heli seems so much easier to fly.

This thread was just what I was looking for.
I just finished an E550 Raptor, had a mini-Titan since Feb and a CX-2 since last Nov.
I was looing to get a micro like the GAUI 200, 100 or Honey Bee FP for indoor/living room practice but from what you guys have said, the GAUI's (and probably the HBFP) would not be very suitable.
That being the case, I will now look further at the Walkera 4#3 or the super expensive Hirobo Quark FP.

ep200 is somewhat my dream heli... small but can do serious 3d (despite i dont know how to do 3d yet)... my birds are getting smaller again and again... 600n/500/e325/ep200... and in the days of no wind like last weekend here in hongkong, i had 11 flights almost non-stop with different e-birds throwing into sky within 2 hours! as someone said before, after flying ep200 i found it a lot easier to fly mini titian and then 500...

Gee Dave,
I've seen the Quark, and own a 4#3.
I think you'd be better off busting lamps with the 200.
FWIW, my 4#3 is not as good as most, this should be fun.
Regarding flying the 200 indoors. Not recommended for newbs, but It's worked for me, I hover a bit inside. Nailed the ceiling once inverted, and replaced a Wallington lampshade, and still don't sleep on the couch...
