Been a tire kicker long enough so damn the torpedos and full speed ahead! Placed an order for my 200 this morning, so am applying for apprentice membership in order to continue to learn from the masters.
Order the "Profession" combo from Flying Hobby:
EP200SD, gy401, MX306 servos, (don't trust them so will not be using them!) and 2 2s batts. Also order from them 2 more batts, (two chargers at home so one batt flying, one cooling and 2 on chargers!) and an AR6100 rx.
Tried to order 3 HS45HBs, a 3154 tail servo, 15/10 pinion and carbon fiber landing skids from ReadyHeli, but in my credit cards infinite wisdom, locked my account when they saw the Flying Hobby charge, even though I was using PayPal, so will have to reorder on Monday.
When ReadyHeli has more parts in stock, I will be placing my spares order and will be looking for input in the right parts to get. (i.e. "Long" mainshafts or regular? Same questions on tail booms?)
Would like to thank all on here for the great input. Have a long list of things to do and look for when I do the set up! Can't wait!!!

Good for you man! I've been on the fence too and haven't been able to convince myself yet. (Although Crabfu is doing a good job of it!)
Where are you at in Denver? I'd really like to see one of these little buggers in person.

I'm north end of Parker. You? Hope to have the Gaui up and flying by the end of next week, but will have to see what the shipping time is from HK!

Go 'fer it guys!!!
Right now I've got two birds down, but the 200 is still ripping along singing it's "dentalwork" theme song.
I've almost gotten tired of repeating it, but if I had to chose just one GREAT all around heli, it would be the GAUI Huricane.
It's fun, it's capable, and it's tough. You won't go wrong. 'Nuff said.

Welcome to this exclusive - yet steadily expanding - club. :)
With regard to spares, you will have to get a couple of bags of the main blade grip screws. They bend each and every time the blades hit anything other than air.
Other than that, the only things I have broken in numerous crashes was a set of woodies, the feathering shaft, the tail blade "arm" that connects the push rod and the tail and the infamous mixer arms. (The mixer arms can be strengthened by putting in longer bolts.)
Keep us posted when you get your new found love in the air.
And I am with Gary on this one. If I should choose to have only one heli, I would pick my Gaui over my T-rex 500.

I second those motions. Great helicopter. If I had to keep one heli out of eight It would be the Gaui 200. Best all around bird I have. Maybe not as stable as my 500 or 450 but it can fly where they cannot and the Gaui can go almost everywhere those birds can. I won't mention my CP Pro or the CX2s for obvious reasons.
Recomended parts:
Eatra hands, makes a good stand and has the magnifying glass attached http://www.readyheli.com/Helping_Hand_p/hhand.htm
Main shaft
Lot's and lot's of main rotor grip spindle screws (there extremely soft but usual save more costly parts)
Tail rotors
Main Rotors
Flybar
Paddles
Lg (get the CF)
Tail booms
Canopies see-saw arms ( AKA mixers )
Tail belts and/or TT gears and shaft
main gear
tail control rod and links
As many batteries as you can get away with
Hardware packs
links and rods
extra tail box
Helistai stickers
Honestly, a second bare Gaui 200 isn't a bad way to go (for the money) I steal parts off my secondary 200s all the time.
The 200 takes the long booms (short is for the ep100)
Never heard of long main shafts, there is short and tall main shaft collars. 200 takes both but the bottom collar (beneath main gear under the frame) isn't needed.
The links pop off relatively easy (at least for me) by hand. I've heard but not confirmed the CP Pro links work on the 200 (i'll have to try them).
If you haven't already prepared for this get a Trex 450 battery tray and mod for Rx/Gyro tray or see CrabFu's post on his Aluminum batery tray. We're still waiting on rdlohr (rick) to make trays hint hint.
But most of all bring your sense of humor, crazyness and a willingness to post your experiences with the rest of us nuts. Helistai !!!

The 306's arent bad as long as you prevent the cases opening. I wound thread round them and then soaked it is superglue.

R0t0R - perhaps you will not believe me at first, but the Gaui 200 forum on Helifreak is by far the most fun and crazy sub-forum of them all.
This is where I love to hang out, and these people are the (only) ones I would really like to meet in real life.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I agree with Peter in that this is a fun place to hang out and have gotten great info and feedback here. It's all of you guys that have me excited about getting my (first???) Gaui. Fun, humor and learning abound here and I look forward to being part of it! I will post my adventures as a new Gaui flyer (and still newbie to helicopters in general!) as I get it flying. With the way I fly, that should be good for some laughs!

Well my package just arrived! Holy cow! This is the smallest thing I've seen, you not kidding when you say get out the looking glass! I thought the blade screws on the CX were small, on this heli every thing is small!

Don't say we didn't tell you so. :tongue
Welcome in the "tiny club"
How is Izzy doing with her heli "career" by the way?

She has been getting into the groove of Summer! She was flying the other night and no blade changes, so she's getting better!:clappp
Now what to do with these 200's? I have an extra Align RCE-500x gyro will this work? Or should I rob the HiTec 5000 from the other 450? Is the AR6100 or the 6100E better for this? And where to stuff it all?

Yeehaa!
We've got 'em with all sorts of gyros, so that's not much of a concern, I'd recommend something like 10g, but heck, they're guys that can outfly me with what look like boat anchors mounted.
I think the 6100e works better due to the usual forward placement and lack of room for the connections.
I put 6100e on top, in front of the swash, connections toward the nose. I'm considering the Spectrum Nano next time (weight freak).
Keep it all forward as much as you can, c.g. is usually to far aft. Ziptie and fly, is my new motto.

Congrats R0t0R!
I'm glad to hear that you made the plunge. You won't be disappointed. I enjoyed our conversation last week and hope it helped you make your decision.
Now the hard part... waiting!

I use the Logitec 2100T gyro - and it works great. Placed just behind the battery on the bottom tray.
And I use the 6100, and have it placed on the "nose" of the heli.

Thanks Hover_X, the phone conversation with you did help a lot to convince me on ordering. It will be tough to wait for the "new addition" to the family to arrive. Think I will take the time to go find a desk lamp with a magnifying lens in it per recommendations on here!
Can you wear out a website checking on your order status!? Placed my order with Flying Hobby on Friday morning and with the time difference, thought it may go out before the weekend, but still shows "processing" on my order.
