We were using the 14mz with a 9c in a trainer mode and I don't know what happened but the screen on the 14MZ went totally blank. We tried shutting down and restarting and still blank. Tried removing battery and pressing the reset and still nothing. The transmitter actually works if you hit the wheel once after turning on but nothing on the screen.
HELP PLEASE

mplourde, have you ever owned anything electronic before?
whirlwind, you will need to send it to hobby services and I am sure they will replace it under warranty. I have heard of several different things happening to screens, but in small numbers. I am not surprised to see a small amount of screen failures. The saving grace is that Futaba stands behind their equipment and I am sure they will get you fixed up as fast as they can. The good part is just as you said though, the radio still works fine. Seems the Windows hatters and those that predicted total failure due to these types of interface issue when not correct.
Sorry to hear about the problem.

Hi Eric,
Yes to answer to your Question. I work in this domain. But, I found hard to pay 2599.95$ box to have this radio and ear some problem like that afther the official lauching from Futaba.
It's bad and frustring thing for owner to must send the radio to resolve the problem. YOU, you are in usa. It's corect for transportation. But, did you have think for alot of owner are not in USA, must sent his radio for a bug to Futaba ??? It's a big problem, and sure, I talk about what I know. It's for that I'm not agree with the price of this radio. The reputation is not done yet!
Have good fly to all!!!

What can I say other than whirlwind should send it in to Futaba support for a checkup. The price of the equipment doesn't make it immune or invulnerable to electronic failure (sheesh, try working for NASA and then see what I'm talking about). As my friend Murphy loves to say .... "$hit happens!"
mplourde, my two 14MZ are working just fine, thanks for caring. :smokin: How is yours??? Oh wait, forgot you cant AFFORD one? :p :arggg:

No reason to get nasty.
It's a new electronic thingy that screwed up :D
Just be glad it's an R/C radio and not the ABS Brakes on the car your wife, kids or mother is driving!

You sure hear a lot of people talk about how the 14MZ has improved their flying and collective management. Is it worth the $$ to me??? Not sure.... maybe.
Electronics mess up sometimes, no matter how much they cost. As evidenced by the NEW 30K+ server cluster one of my clients just got from a major server manufacturer that will not make it through a bootup without a spontaneous powering off.

RCFan, You said you have two 14MZ!!! Could you explain to me the reason why please??? Just one is not enough? One 14MZ is not supposed to do all you want? Or is because you have alot of money to spent it? :lolol :rolling

When a radio is as good as the 14MZ is, you can't just have one.

Ploude,
I have two complete Ion-Xs ready to fly with batteries $6000 grand and two glow models $5000, Can’t fly them all at once but I build one about every year so I have them for back up and just to look at. I know lots of serious RC pilots that have two top end radios incase something goes wrong at a FF or contest with one they don’t have to stop flying or try to barrow a radio. You seem to have an issue with the 14MZ, the cost or what ever, yes the cost is high and if you cant afford one don’t worry the technology like 2048 and faster frame rates will trickle down to the more affordable equipment over the next couple of years. Surely you don’t begrudge him and I and others our 14MZs do you? It seems like you do and it makes you look jealous or something. Trust me if you get a chance to try one of these 14MZ don’t do it, you will never want to fly your current equipment again, yes its that much better!

I love my 14MZ-- no problems and yes I probably will buy another one as soon as the price drops or I run across a good deal. I do this for fun, and when I get time to fly I want to have fun. So has Russ said, if I am at a FF and have a radio problem-- it is nice to know that you can just get out your spare radio, or heli and fly and have fun.
Hell, I have 5 "spare" Fury's ( that way I am sure to get at least 5 flights in before I have to go home)and they all cost more than the 14MZ, but if the radio goes down- the helis are worthless. :D

hey , ya'll , to all the fellows that find mplourde as a pain , dont bother , hes really not , he lives in Canada , and from France, so what yall think of him isnt being neg about the 14mz , its trying to translate one langage to another in his own words that yall might think is negative. I have recieved a few PMs and I think he deserves the respect from yall and the chance

C - eh, N- eh, D- eh..see no vowels needed!
French would be harder, I'll have to think on that awhile.
All in fun. :)
Translations are okay, but if He really wants to avoid being misunderstood, maybe he should post in his native language as well. We've already determined that some of us'ns have culture and can speak more than two languages.
(I know, foul language is not really a language, but most of us can make it sound exotic!)

2 radios are a must if you travel to events.
I flew a buddys 14mz and I liked the way the model flew and felt on the sticks a lot better than my 9z or 10x either one. I am saving up now for the 14!
Like Rus said, don't try one because you will like it. When you think about how much the big helis and good electronics cost , what is 2 grand for a radio to protect your investment? I have more than 2 grand in my 2 radios now, and since I stopped flying GS Planes this year, I am selling my Z and X and going 14mz for helis only.

Shannon loaned me his Ion-X and his 14MZ. Since then, I got the Ion-X, now just gotta save up for the 14MZ. I fly a 9Z now and I really liked the feel fo the 14 better. It just feels so crisp on the sticks. Yea I know setup is everything but Shannon and I setup our helis identically for the most part, I learned setup from him and Clint.
Hopefully by this time next year, I will retire the 9z and 9C I fly now, and get a 14mz. :smokin:

The 14MZ makes a huge difference on any model. Even on a small Hawk Sport, I noticed improved handling mostly due to the 14MZ stick response. I was happily surprised when I first took off not expecting anything different. Everything feels "smoother" with the 14MZ.

Setup is everything in a heli, is feel everything on the radio?
