Although I have not tried the RevMax I will say the RevLock. I have used the RevLock governors since they were prototypes and man do they work great!
Simple to set-up, easy to mount, works like it should and to price is super as well.

humm does the Revlock also Limit like the RM? i mean preventing the motor of overspeeding?

Yes it does. If you set it for 12,500 RPM or whatever RPM you choose, it stays there. The only thing it cannot handle is a over-lean condition (run-on from heat).

what does that mean/ when do you overlean?

The Revmax is a Rev Limiter so if you overload the Cyclic/Collective it will not add throttle to keep the headspeed up, so the headspeed can drop with the Revmax
The Revlock is a Governor and tries to control the headspeed by constantly adjusting the throttle to provide a constant headspeed.
An overlean condition means that your fuel mixture is too lean in certain spots. This will cause a 2 stroke engine to rev very high at very low throttle openings.
There is not a governor on the market that can fix fuel mixture problems.

One more thing:
You should have ALL your throttle and pitch curves, and your fuel mixture set as well as you can before using a governor.
There are no shortcut's with R/C Heli's

just read the manual of the revlock... my first problem ist: how do I use it??!! ^^

I understood how to set up the target RPM but i dint understand how: to activate that rpm?!

i got a FF9

how do i setup my FF9 with the revlock? schoud i use the governor mode ?
do i have to spool up the heli "manualy" (with throtle curve) or does the revlock do that it self?!

i'd need a litle instruction guide!

Thanks alot!

4 th gallon...how many gallons does it take to break in a 91 c spec???? Or how much fuel before u can push the motor a lil harder then normal flying???

Read the above page. It should answer some of your questions.
20 flights with a 90 size heli is approx 3.5 gallons of fuel
30 flights is 5 gallons on most 90 size helis.

Why?

Jeff

I have run two Raptor 50s/Hypers and my Fury/YS91. I break them in with the GOVs ON. TJ Pro on the Raptors and a GV-1 on the YS-91.

No problems doing it this way.

Why?? In case your Governor fails or malfunctions. ESPECIALLY if you don't know how to auto very well.

Be very careful breaking in using the governor on. It may have worked for you, how hard do you push the motors now? If you push it hard enough to let fuel blow by the ring during break-in, you will make your motor produce less power than peoples who don't. If you don't fly 3D you might not notice. This info came straight from Curtis, and I believe him. This is especially true with the C-SPEC, but I would think it pertains to all ringed engines.

Curtis recommends 30 flights of not pushing the motor hard as David posted above.

I run a linear throttle curve in normal mode as a backup, and no it won't be perfect but it's just there as a backup. I run a V shaped curve as a backup in Idle up 1 & 2. They are just there as a backup but I have never turned my governors off since installing the engines.

True you can't dispute what Curtis would say. For me it's a total time issue, I don't want to spend time working on curves and tweaking.

I do fly 3D although not what I would call hard 3D. I do have a breakin period on my engines but I don't think I spent 30 flights. I may try a few more flights next time I have a new motor just to see the difference.

I had 45 gallons on one of my original OS 50SXs and it worked great.

And yes, I like to auto, although I really only enjoy inverted autos :D
