View Full Version : 8s 1910/1y in a logo 600 3d?

I just crashed my custom flybarless trex 600 after a catastrophic tail failure/boom strike. I was adding up the costs to rebuild it to the same state an started thinking about a logo 600 3d. I have a couple questions though.
I have some electronics that should still be good and want to use them. If I can't I will probably end up rebuilding the trex so can someone tell me what I could expect from the following
8s evolite 4270 brick (will this battery fit under the pinion)
1910/1y I would by a 12T herringbone pinion for it.
CC110HV
9351 servos
v-stabi
I notice that almost nobody is running 8s on the logo 600's. The logo 600 is lighter then the trex so would the same power system not perform better on it...this setup on my trex 600 (with a 14T pinion 170 main) had lots of jam for me, and I wouldn't mind lowering the headspeed marginally. Will my brick pack even fit in the frame?
Is the quickUK swash compatible?
Is the Kasama head compatible
(I would think they would be as they are 10mm mainshaft and 8mm feathering shaft).
Nobody in town here has a logo so I can't really find these things out for my self and would really appriciate some advise.

Flybar-less here on the freak has a very similar setup. It flies great! I've witnessed it a couple of times and I was impressed for sure. An 8s setup is what next Logo will be. My current one is 10s and I like it but the cost factor is a bit less with a 8s setup and performance is still outstandingly awesome.
Yes your 8s 4270 packs will fit no problem. Excellent motor choice too.
Hi Dynamic,
I am flying the 4270s in a TRex 600. I checked into using that pack in a Logo 600 3D also and was told that it wouldn't fit. It's too wide to fit in upright, so it would have to go on its side. But then there wouldn't be enough clearance for the pinion.
I had guys measure it for me and I confirmed this with the measurements of my battery.
I think you're better off with a 10S stick and a Z50 motor for the Logo 600 3D. If I build one, that's what I'm going to do.
Keep 'em flying.:YeaBaby:

Seems you didn't read my post, specifically that part about re-using parts and not buying a completely new powertrain. I have no desire to go 10S or use an outrunner motor so that point is mute.
Thank you for you input about the battery fit though. Would someone be able to provide me with the measurements of the battery compartment as it seems I have conflicting opinions on whether it will fit or not.
The measurments I would be looking for would be width, and height to pinion I believe.

55MM wide, 60MM high from bottom of tray to pinion. +/-1MM i think

I have a Logo 6003D & a Flightpower 8s 4270 pack that I run on another heli. It will work and I will put the pack in tomorrow and take pictures for you. Also PM "Flybar-less" as he is doing exactly what your asking about. I do know off the top of my head the pinion does get close but works fine. I don't think you can run the counter bearing for the pinion but then again you don't need it with the motor and 8s pack your wanting to use. Will take pics tomorrow.
Oh!! One more thing. I think Flybar-less told me at the field that he is using the mod .5 main gear.... you need to contact him to confirm.

Thanks guys. I do appreciate the diligence you've shown with this issue.
The dimensions of my pack are
evolite 8s 4270
147.2MM/60.5MM/45.6MM
according to FP at least, I'll measure my actual when I get home. It definitely appears as if it will be close. I'm really interested in a picture just so I can see the tolerances I'm dealing with.
Now that you mention a mod .5 I did the calculations and I think your right. A 17T mod 5 would make for a much smoother gear mesh with the same head speed.

I'm also going to assume that a metal motor mount plate is pretty much a mandatory upgrade eh.

Definitely yes to the metal motor mount - some info on battery sizes here (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=67002) so it seems it will be a tight fit without and won't fit with CB. I'm going the other way - upgrading my T600 1910/1Y to 10S :) - although your system will fly just fine in the L600 it won't have the stellar performance the 10S system has IMHO

I'm really trying to make this work as I want to try the logo instead of staying with the t600.
Really informative info in that thread.
How catastrophic would it be to remove 2.75mm from the sides. Having just looked at a measuring tape it looks like its way to much eliminating the possibility of running it sideways.
So If I can't run it sideways and I don't want to risk it directly under the pinion then what do you guys think of this....
If I was to velcro/trap my battery in slightly ahead of the pinion by a couple mm, and then to account for the change in CG move my 110HV and hercules BEC from the suggested position at the front of the bird to directly under the main gear. The ESC weighs 150g cause its a big bastard. How off will my CG be with my battery that couple of millimeters ahead. I kinda want my CG to be pretty good as I'm going to be going flybarless.
I guess long story short I should just buy the
-logo 600 3d w/flybarless head
-metal motor mount
and see how this works out. Any other critical upgrades that I should know about other then the motorplate before I start looking for the best deal.

My 500 3d came with the metal motor mount, so I would be surprised if the 600 3d didn't come with one in the kit.
Given your location I guess you'll be talking to Ken at www.rcflightstore.com (http://www.rcflightstore.com) - you could call or email him and ask him.

I don't think it's a big deal removing some of the side entry holes. If you're gonna go flybar less then buy the flybarless kit - cheaper than adding on - I am sure you could get CG right with the changes you thought of. Bottom line - go for it and make it work. Very few must have U/G - maybe the antistatic pulley #3043 (?)

They all come with metal motor plate (3D kits). The batt should fit, that height measurement maybe get another 1-2MM as i had velcro on the bottom of the tray.
Are people having static issues on the logo 600???

Thanx guys. I'll be ordering as soon as ken get what I want back in stock.
Battery will have to be a little ahead of the pinion as shown in the above picture. When thinking about it though I can counter the CG by making "speed holes" in my canopy up front for better cooling anyway.

Dynamic.... I may be building a Logo 600 or Logo 500 using the NEU 1910H/1Y, CC85HV ESC and Flightpower Evolite 8s 4270 brick. Still trying to decide if I want to do this to a Logo 600 or 500.... I may have some questions for you soon.

my 6003d is enroute and should be here next week.
What flight times do you get with 8s4270mah?

On a 600 with a flybar.... guess 4:30 - 6:30 minutes depending on how hard you fly it.
On a 600 w/o flybar.... guess 5 - 7 minutes
