I asked www.cyberheli.com when they are scheduled to have the pipe in stock and this pipe should be available in a week or two. I hope it fixes the " coming loose problem" since this is about the only thing that is holding me from purchasing the spec G now, aside from the fact that the bird and it's heart has no ETA from MA :(. PLS let me know if you hear anything about this new pipe.

Don't throw away your #942 just yet. The new proto of the #957 that I got before IRCHA won't fit an X-Cell, Bergen or Century model. The Flange is too tall to fit. You will either have to cut the frames on the Bergen/X-Cell and Century or cut the fan shroud practically OFF of the exhaust side for the Spectra-G. I hope they fixed that! BTW, that new adapter won't fit your old #942 either!

Thanks for the answer; I really thought this pipe was the answer to the spec G pipe issue  . Well, that's a shame as I was really interested in that bird, but I ain't much of an engineer or toolmaker to find a way to keep the 942 on. Guess I will have to wait that the issue settles before I start that project.

The SS header is the way to keep the pipe on, too bad no one wants to make them any more. They do work.

I can make the headers if enough people are interested... If we can get twenty or more I could do them for no more than approx $60.00 each...?

Hi all...
Well thats four...a little ways to go yet. For those that want one, PM me with an email address and when I hit the magic number I'll let everyone know and will go from there...
They will be made on a "CNC Machining Center" and will be well made!
Cheers

If you end up making them you may want to make them so you can get to all bolts without removing anything as this has proven to be a good and time saving feature. The size and shape of these is good to fit all the models they have been tried on. They are the same length as the original aluminum ones that came withthe SB-12 and just a fraction more heavy. I know for sure that Fritz is not gonna make any more. He has molds to do now again.
I am very glad that someone is making some more SS headers as this IS the way to keep on a very good muffler/pipe. In John's testing the Hatori has ROCKED and proven to be the best of quite a few he tested against!
These were all done by hand on a Bridgeport hand crank mill.

Back to the #957.
Does the production #957 fit the Spectra-G without cutting the fan shroud.
Does the new mount address the coming loose issues?
CyberHeli assure me it will fit but did not answer the question about it coming loose.

Thanks Torbis.
Can you post a pic of how much you had to cut the shroud.
(or i can PM you my email address)

I sent an email to MA and got some answers.
Chris from MA tells me that they are now selling a new Hatori pipe with MA part number 9916-2 that addresses the coming loose problem.
I asked Chris if this was the same pipe sold as the #957 overseas ( i even sent them pictures) and he said as far he can tell it is.
I've ordered a #957. We'll see how it goes.

I also went to the auto parts shop on the weekend to find some RTV silicone.
They had some Gold RTV specially for Exhausts which has some copper in it.
I'm going to use that on the mating surfaces and bolt threads to see if it helps.

OK ... my century V2 seems to be playing the game now that the motor has done a bit of running .. Got a Century V1 on the other machine , but its a horrible noise !! Looking foreward to seeing/hearing you'rs and meeting you at Coffs Harbour !!!

Until Hatori or somebody figures out a way to keep the pipe from vibrating off the machine, I'll be sticking with the Century Torpedo muffler on my Spectra's. It's nice to be able to fly it without having to worry about the pipe coming off 3 min into a flight.

Gary, the #957 uses a different manifold to the infamous #942.
That's a stainless adapter plate you see in the Pic's
MA tell me that it addresses the issues.
I have an aversion to anything century so didn't consider the Torpedo. but that's a personal preference.
If the #952 proves to be problematic, then hopefully by then the TRM tuned pipe will be available.

GaryO, actually the Hatori was not loosening because of vibration. The cause was the heat cycling of the aluminum causing the aluminum to change its dimensions dramatically as all of the gas applications of aluminum adapters seem to do. The stainless adapter does not change dimensions like the aluminum so will not loosen itself due to the heat cycling.

John, I understand what the problem has been on the pipe. I've been in the steel fabrication industry for more than 30 years. I knew when I saw how the 942 pipe mounted it was probably not going to work. You just can't take a block of aluminum like that and put it directly to a heat source and expect it to stay.
Custom PC, I am with you on the Century thing but I just couldn't stand the look or the sound of the stock pipe and the Torpedo stays on with no problems. I only bought one and I have 3 Spectra's, I'm waiting for the TRM pipe to come out.

I got my #957 in the post today.
Firstly, you do not need to cut the fan shroud for this pipe.
The Stainless steel plate has a recess machined out of one corner which allows it to clear the fan shroud by a nice gap of about 2mm. I was scratching my head all day trying to figure out what that recess was for. Once i got home and test fit it to the heli, i was plainly obvious.
I am trying to figure out why Hatori say it's for rearward facing only. It will definately bolt to the motor in either orientation. The only thing i can think of is that it's size would mean a lot of canopy trimming to fit on a forward facing motor.
