OK, guys...we have decided to go forth with an AMA/FAI helicopter contest in Tampa next March. Exact dates to follow soon, most likely 3rd or 4th weekend. We have to deconflict those dates, yet.
We will get an AMA Sanction for AMA class I, II, and III, as well as FAI. If anyone knows of any conflicts, please let me know ASAP so we can set the best date.
We are NOT hosting a funfly. This is for contest flying only, however the intent is to have a laid back, fun atmosphere that anyone should feel comfortable participating in. If you ever thought about contest flying, this will be the place to try it out. No pressure, just fly, learn, and have some fun.
If you're curious about what the schedule of manuevers are, go here:
http://www.modelaircraft.org/comp/0506Rulebook/rc-heli.pdf
All classes of manuevers are detailed there.
Host field will be the Bay City Flyers:
http://www.baycityflyers.com/area_52_field.htm
The site has a climate controlled "ready room" with TV/VCR, room to setup a scoring computer, and a full service kitchen.
Once the dates are set, we will post a flyer on the club website.
More to come,
Erich
