Is a Futaba 7CAP a good product? or would I, a beginner, be better off with a Spektrum DX7?

For a heli you would be looking at the Futaba 7chp. Its a very good radio and I have been using one in my Raptor 50 for more than a year with no problems. It is easier to set up the gyro if you use a Futaba gyro such as the gy401 than with the Spektrum radios. But, that is my personal experience after using Futaba radios for 20+ years. The DX7 is a quality radio as well and should serve you well if you decide to go that route. Either radio will work well so it comes down to your wallet and personal preference.
