I bought some bearings for my DX7 a couple months (maybe three or four) to replace the bushings that are the stock configuration. I didn't install them because being my only TX I was afraid I'd screw up my radio. I was talking to CrabFu last night (or was it early this morning?) and he told me he had them installed and liked them. So, I looked up the link (thanks ReadyHeli for the link) at: http://www.rchelimag.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6343&page=1&pp=1 and dove in.
Great mod! While I was in there I got rid of the ratchet on the collective so that helped also. Now, before you try this be warned: Give yourself at least a good hour if not two with ample work space with a nice clean area to do it in. The last thing you want to do is screw up your $300 TX. So if your break something don't blame me :tongue
The sticks are silky smooth with the bearings installed. The're easier on the fingers that's for sure. Because of the pucker factor involved while flying I have a tendancy to hold on to the sticks tighter than I need too which leads to finger fatigue and sometimes a crash in the O'crap situations. I've found from about an hour on the sim that fingers aren't as tired as they used to be. The ratchet being gone is a huge part of it but, I can personaly tell a big difference on the sticks.
My little Gaui 200s seem to have smoothed out a bit (I'm sure they fly the same) as I'm not fighting the sticks. Even a slight "catch" or "jerky" stick movement with a 200 translate into a few feet of travel in the air.
So now that my fingers are tired of doing the two tap tango, if you aven't done it already and you have the time, patience and a little screw driver savy I'd recommend this mod.
The bearings can be found here: https://www.readyheli.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=dx7+bearings&Search.x=8&Search.y=13
Next, I'd like to do the DX7 backlight mod, can be found here http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=75701
but I don't plan on doing any night flying aanytime soon so I'll save that for a later day and put it on the "to do" list with the other 50 things on there.
