Forgive the newb, but I didn't even know that there was a K3D electric model until I saw the video of the flybarless system (killer btw).

Besides the method of powering the heli, what do you all see as the pros and cons between the two? Obviously the cost of batteries for the e-model is one that I can see right off the bat.

Well to be honest i cannot join the poll. So far i am flying a Nitro and the electric one is allready build except ESC and Batteries. So i loca both from a build concept...so get both :-) Thats what i did and sold my T-rex.

Well, when looking at results I will add in a vote for the n version since I understand that is what you have. I guess I wasn't clear on the poll. I am curious as to how many here have what version.

I have the Knight 600E. It's an awesome heli! I really enjoy it.

Just got my new K3D-N. Haven't flown it just yet, but the build is superb so far. I really doubt you can go wrong either way, but I prefer the longer run times and more consistant power of the nitros. Electric just seems too much pain in the neck for not enough flight time. Just my $.02!

Since you are a newb and will not be doing extreme 3d for a while. With the K3De you can get a Flight Power 5350 mah evo light 8s & fly for 9 minutes with power to spare. ;) This same battery works great for a V-bar setup doing extreme 3d, except you get less flying time. Not much hassle to electric, charge the battery, plug it in & fly.

Dont forget that there is a world wide nitro shortage. 6s battery=$299. 8 gallons of 30% fuel at the new retail price is $319.92 that is of course if they continue to make 30% in the near future. I fly a Knight50 sport powered by a YS50 with a carbsmart, which has given me considerable gains in performance and flight time. But right about now I would take a serious look at electric power and even A123 batteries. Dont get me wrong I love Nitro. Just the smell of it get me goin.

im not getting out of them or at least not until parts are hard to get. it is the best flying heli i ever owned- thats why i have 3. but i could down size to 1 or 2 nitros since i would like to find an electric heli that i like- with fuel being what it is and all

Hard choice between the 2...... I really like the elec. it's a sweet flying heli...just like the nitro but I think I'll have to vote for the nitro just because of the flight time's....

Cool eyefly. Good to hear you will be keeping one. I am starting to consider the e model due to the fuel prices.

I think eventually I'd like to have both N and E, but the prices gotta come down or I have to win the lottory!
So what are the chances the 'ol Knight will go the way if the dodo then? A bit of speculation on the forums about the distributer mess, but is there any reason the company might fold or go away?

maybe in the USA but in Europe its still a hot model so overall i would have to say no they will be around.

These are the best flying helicopters I have ever owned (I have owned over 30 helicopters-I lost count).

I have no intention of getting rid of mine, but I a curious with regard to the product support in this country.

Has the dust settled yet? Does Rodney still have parts and is he still a distributor?

Inquiring minds want to know.
