Well after reading and seeing how much fun you guys where having with your 200's I went ahead and ordered one from ReadyHeli. They had the Shaft Drive version on sale for $299 so I figured what the heck. Got 3 HS-45's and an S3154. Tried getting a couple batt's but they only had 1 left. Now just have to prepare for the fiance saying "How many more do you need?". I know she woudlnt like the answer to that question. I'll just have a picture of her closet and the 100 shoes so I can ask the same. I'll make sure I wear a cup just in case. lol

What parts do you guys recommend that I order for spare parts? I know what to buy for my Trex 450SE but dont know anyone with one of these little buggers. Nor do I know what happens when it frech kisses the ground.

Anyways thanks for all the info you guys provided, it came in very helpful! I am so excited!!!

Go ahead and mothball your other helis as they are now inadequate. IMO this little heli is the reason I got into helis. I just wish I would have discovered that 5 helis ago. Who knew? Even though it's supposed to be "RTF" don't even try. Take the time to go through it and set it up correctly and then it's christmas morning every time you fly it.:happyd It is for me anyway. :fly

I plan to go over it just like I did my Trex. Looks like readyheli already shipped it so should be here tomorrow!! Cant wait.

Well I just couldn't resist. I placed my order for a 200 with TT on sale at RH. I hope it is as much fun for me as it is for you.

She showed up today. Having ReadyHeli in FL rocks for us hurricane lovers. Got an RH coolie for my beer and a fomie RH plane for the fiance (sorry rh, I told her I got it for her).

I was VERY impressed with the quality of the Gaui, my only complain was the canopy. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems to be fiberglass(I could be wrong) The right side when it's tail in is super strong, the left side looks like they gave up on it so it's super flimsy and already has a crack in it. No biggie since I plan on airbrusing it.

Other than that she's super sexy!!! I just wish it came in bags so I could build it from scratch!

I cracked my canopy on the right side the first time I put it on too. You want even think about the canopy when you start flying it.

Yeah I am not worried about it.. But as a NewB I have a spare 401 from one of my Trex's but it just seems so big for this heli.. What do you guys recommend and WHERE? Pics I look at seem like everyone has custom trays for batteries or Gyro mounts... did I miss a post somewhere?

You must have overlooked that thread. You are correct I think most are fitting some type of battery/gyro/receiver tray up front since the bird can be tail heavy.

I have no issues with the 401, I have the front of it lined up with the back of the front skid (confused yet :p ) I also didnt like the fg sotck canopy so I got a plastic and painted it up nice and its much better (and lighter)

Only reason I asked is I have a spare Align RCE-500x. I dont have a scale to see what this weighs compared to the Futaba. But it is definately much smaller. And to be honest I think my LHS carries parts for what ever I tell them i bought cause hmmm as my wife says "YOU SUCK!! at this hobbie!" LOL

Jetleaf: I'll have to look for that tray, only saw one for the 5** on rcheli. I get stuff from them so quickly that I like to use them.

See Dee,
You better go buy another heli quick. From your posts it looks like you have a wife and a fiance. You gonna need some relief.

SeeDee I don't think you will be able to find battery tray that will just bolt right up. All of the ones I have seen have been modded or cut down to fit.

Thanks Jetleaf, I was reading about the trex tray. So I may go over to LHS and see. I definately dont like the idea of tapeing/velcroying the receiver to the flat peice in front of the servos. Miniature contact.

Mine just came in a few minutes ago, THANKS RH. I am very impressed with the quality. My canopy does't have any problems and the finish is very nice.

I am now looking as pics to see how others are installing radio gear. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I understand that others have had problems with the 6100 receiver mounted next to the boom. I am planning an up front Rx location.

Thanks for any help

Piper,
I just went through a new Gaui set up a couple of weeks ago. I found the pics and discussion in the "Show off your Gaui" stickey and a super long discussion at runryder to be very helpful. Here's the link for the runryder but be prepared; it is long and laboring http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t393697p1/.
A lot depends on which gyro you select.

I ordered a Spartan 760 form Midland Hobbies in the UK. It should get here next week.
Thanks for the RR link, I will check it out.

SO has anyone used an align gyro? this RCE-500X is it worth it? or should I just use my 401?

Piper,
The Spartan is nice but it comes with enough wire to do a full size heli (almost). I put one on a 450 and even though I shorten wires with reckless abandon, I haven't on the Spartan.
Tell us how you handle it.
See Dee,
I wish I could help you with the Align gyro but I've never used one

SeeDee take a look at the Align RCE 600 it's their new one. Here is a video of it being tested on the T-rex 500 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8KKkIajitI&eurl=http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=73881&highlight=rce+600
I have one on another heli I'm building so I haven't tried it out yet. I think ReadyHeli just started carrying them. I bought mine from Infinity RC for $67.00! Logictech servos won't work with it but most other servos will. It's not that big either only 2.5 cm square and 1.5 cm tall.

I don't think you'll have any problems if you use that gyro :wow2:.
