OK, it looks like most of you guys are running somewhere in the range of 3-4 flights on packs ranging from 1100-1500 (based on replies).

I'm guessing that a flight is around 10min.? With that, then the average consumption is around 225mAh for you guys.

After charging, flying, and discharging, I'm ending up with ~1900 from a possible 2300 pack, which has me around 400/flight. I know that my pack is labeled @ 2500, but the higher draw is lowering my capacity some.
Plus, since I've only been hovering, I've heard that this sequence can be more demanding on the pack...hope you all agree?

At least I know that I'm close with the figures and that it may get better once I move into forward flight.

I saw another post regarding a guy who came close to a crash after about 5 or so flights, so maybe his battery was getting low as he claimed to have little response from the heli.

A friend has mentioned that some guys have transitioned into LiPo's and a regulator set up. Anyone have thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance for replies.

I was getting 4-5 flights my 50 using a 1900 subA pack, which was ok, but I could feel the response slowing down the last flight or two. SubC packs will last longer, but are heavier. Both of my birds now have a 5.4v Ubec and 2000mah 3S LiIon batteries and I love it. Each flight uses about 130ma, so I recharge the pack every gallon or so whether it needs it or not :D

This setup doesn't have to be super expensive; mine ran DIY $70, and I use the normal switch with a modified VoltWatch to check the higher battery voltage.
