I have a belt cp and HBKII. I have a align rce-500x gyro on the hbkII and a Telebee/Zoom Head Lock Gyro with ATV gyro on the Belt CP. The directions are not clear as to what direction the gyro should be facing. Gathering from pictures, I know it should be upright, but I've seen pics of them facing to the right, to the rear and to the left. Is there any advantage to either of these installs?

doesnt matter how its facing as long as its on its end like you have it... Also make sure its moving in the right direction... To test thing turn on the radio and heli let it initialize and move the tail counter clockwise... .when doing this take note of the movement of the servo arm, it should be pulling towards the front of the heli.

If its not flip the reverse switch on the gyro itself...

'DierWolf' has got it in one - as usual.
I've got the same model H.H. TeleBee gyro as shown in your second photo, on my Belt C.P.
Got the mounting of the gyro all wrong to start with - it way my first helicopter. ( not counting a E-sky Lama V-3 )
Guy at my LHS showed me how to mount and set it up to work properly, it is still where he sugested mounting it, on the side of the C.P. frame itself, about where the ESC is shown in the 'Belt CP Set-up' site here.
Down there it is well away from getting a blade strike as well. ( just in case that Irish bast*rd Murphy turns up one flying day. )

Just a thought, long as you are going for an up-grading of your gyro - have you thought about ditching the stock ESC while your at it ?
Heard nothing good about the supplied stock one - they seem to melt / catch fire too often in reports on R/C heli sites.
Replaced mine with a HobbyWing Pentium Brushless 30A unit that only cost US $35 from HeliDirect. That was done during the Belt's initial build - never had any problem with it at all. :-)
In more than a year the H.H. HeliBee gyro hasn't given any trouble at all and holds the tail nice and steady.
Good match for the Belt CP.

Plug your gyro and tail servo in, power up your system and take the gyro by the hand.

Turn the gyro up and down, the left and right, flip it every which way, which movement gives you some action on the tail servo?

The Gyro should be mounted accordingly, if they made sense....

Almost every gyro I have messed with has a different orientation, so do some testing before you secure it to the bird, then you'll know exactly what your orientation should be.

DierWolf is right on as usual :YeaBaby:
