This forum is great!
I am a noobe and am starting to trim out and hover my heli. I was doing pretty well.....until I had a sort of hard landing. When I got to the heli, the tail boom and tail motor were rotated out of their normal position. Seems now the tail boom is loose and rotates easily in the frame slot. I couldn't tell how the boom had been originally secured to the frame during manafacture. What is the best way to make it secure in the slot?
Is there something better than a drop of CA?
Thanks in advance for your recomendations.
Jerry

I CA'ed my tail boom in and I ended up having to get a new frame on my second crash. I would drill a hole into the frame and use a set screw and not a very big one. that way when you have to replace it next time, and you will, it will be easier to pull out.

I used a hot glue gun and put a bit on the end of the boom before sliding it in the hole, and then also laid a bead of it alongside the boom on the tab where the HH gyro would sit I assume thats where it goes, I dont have one :(

hot glue or even a light epoxy works great for semi-permanent tail-boom attachment. I used JB-quik epoxy to hold the tail boom on, held nice and tight, just took it apart yesterday, and came loose with a good tug. Setscrew is also a good idea. You want to be able to remove it at some point in the future (I had also broken a frame trying to remove the tail boom at one point).

CA remover will usually be enough to remove the drop of CA used to fix the tail boom

this is a tailboom mod i did
sustains tail strikes better (almost unbrakeable)
helps with CG
all i did was put an aluminum tube over the stock composit one almost the same size i belive it was 4mm not sure just just cut so that thiers enough stock boom to go in to frame and tail case
ive hit the boom numerous time with plastick flatbottoms during the learning cure and all it ever did was dent the aluminum and chip the blades
