Hi all
Just looking for interest here.
We have redesigned a tank for the stratus. Something that fits the available space better, holds a fraction more fuel, and holds pressure like the original fury tank.
We should have the prototype tank in the next week or so to start flying testing but so far it looks like it will be a goer.
Stay tuned.

Tim is working on getting a custom tank finished for the Stratus. I expect pre production tanks in about 1 month or maybe less. It will be probably 2 months or so before the production ones hit the street.
Good news. It fits in the Stratus frames well. Right now it has a screw on cap. Molded fuel nipples in the top for vent and fill. It holds 22 oz of fuel. It also mounts via a nipple and grommet setup and will use 2 heavy duty zip ties to secure.

Can you say "hallelujah "??!!
I can't wait to pull the 4 ounce header out of the front of my model.

:) 22oz will be nice. I was pushing for 24 but he said he filled all of the space and could not get a bit more. I have not seen it yet, but Tim said it looks very nice in the model.

Hi Eric
Any chance of a pic of the new tank.
If it is almost the same as the one we have done, I wont bother finishing the development.

I happened the get a glance at what I think was a tank Tim is working on for the stratus. Kinda weird shaped but if it works it works. Nothing really special about it. Cant really see through it.... but you probably will be able to see the fuel level if you get what I mean. It looked thick.

The tank that was in the Stratus at IRCHA SE was just a painted piece of foam. The foam was cut into the shape of the tank to see how it will look and fit in the Stratus. The new tanks are going to be molded in the next few weeks. Capacity of the new tank will be 22 ozs.

Thanks for correcting me. I remember Tim was saying something about painting it and I was like painting a tank?????? Looked weird though.

You can still use the standard tank, you don't have to change.
The new tank mounts better and looks nice in the frames. It is also 22oz which will be nice.

Does it really matter to have the cap. Why can't we deal without it ? A molded tank why can't we molded the 90 needle and forget the cap ? Then you probably will have an extra 0z or 2 Plus your fuel will not be strap to both side when 1/5 or 1/6 of the tank is empty....Just curious.

Don't know how you would get the clunk and clunk line in the tank without a cap.
I surely don't want a tank that uses a rubber stopper. I much rather have the cap, it is easy to take off and get inside the tank quickly when needed.

I don't have a clue what your referring to with the above quote.

Either you have a cap or a stopper. A stopper can be a giant PITA, esp is pressurized fuel systems or in ones where you care to routinely service the clunk line. The Nalgene screw caps holds and seals very well. That's why Tim wanted to keep it.

Tim said the grove on top is more shallow than the picture showed.
Do you have to pull the tank out when need to service the clunk line ?
Assume a small cap on the right side of the tank and mounting the 90 degree fuel pick up right on the cap. Easier ?
Anyway I like the new design better than the first one.

The largest complaint of the old tank was the mounting and looks. The new tank mounts very well and will have a nipple and grommet arrangement on the bottom. Also it will tie down with 2 heavy duty tie wraps and be quite easy to remove for service. The cap on the top was done to make the tank fit and look nice in the model. I agree the cap on the side is easier for Maintenance, but looks overrode that. The tank should be quite easy to remove and install though.

It will be a few weeks before the new tank for the Stratus is available. From what Tim said at IRCHA SE event. He has to send it out to a plastic molder to be molded. So just guessing that may take as long as 6 to 8 weeks.

I just talked to Tim at mullberry about the new tank. The tank in the picture is a foam plug. (made of foam with the cap just glued on top.) It is just to see if the CAD drawn tank will actually fit in the frames. I would think the actual tank will be clear. It is a nice design and fits very well. The nalgene cap is the only way to go, it is big and it seals very well. By the way I do not mind the old nalgene tank but the extra fuel capacity will be nice.
