What kind of carbon? Carbon fiber dust? or carbon build up.
If carbon fiber dust :
Rubbing alcohol will work fine. Or you can use fuel to flush it out. If you use rubbing alcohol, you need to add some oil to the bearings after you finish. The rubbing alcohol contains water, so the bearings might start to rust if not treated with oil.
If carbon build up, just take the piston out of the engine and wipe everything clean .

remove the carb, backplate, and piston/sleeve/rod, get an old cheapy crockpot, use green antifreeze. heat the antifreeze up to about 300 Deg Fahrenheit. put the parts in for 24 hrs, they will come out looking like new.
