There I was breaking the motor in when -
3 tanks through/ no high revs/ mega rich.

I landed , the engine would not rev.it would only just tick-over.
Brought heli inside for closer inspection.

Pin through bottom of shaft had broken. I have the 2 pieces.
I think the head must have lifted up with pitch input and the moved the gear around, ( oscilating )-
anyway just my luck- the gear ( or the shamfered part of the metal section at the bottom of the gear ) catches the frame whilst in flight , then it grinds away apiece on both sides of the frame and ALL the carbon dust goes into my fan and gets sucked into my brand new OS91.

I have stripped the motor and the back bearing has gone.

Thing is though, I did not over tighten the holding pin in the main shaft. it is still in situ.
Also the pin has not broken in the middle, its more than 2/3 to one side!

Can I replace this with a conventional jesus bolt to be sure it cannot happen again??

I have calmed down abit now and cleaned all the carbon from everywhere.

If your main gear was rubbing on your frame, make sure you check the orientation of your bearing blocks:

I noticed a very slight rubbing during my build and it turned out to be a reversed bearing block.

Hi,
I checked all of the bearing blocks. they were correct.
It was a different problem. the pin through the main shaft has broken, retaining screw still in place. I even checked the thread was correct for the retainer screw. It was the bottom of the gear aluminium block that had ground on the frame.
I am going to pm Augusto as I still have the pin and shaft.

Cheers
