Hey All,

I have stripped two or three eSky main gears and thought I would give the TREX 450 main gear mod a try. I followed some stuff on one of the stickies and got my motor mount moved, etc.

When I spool it up, it sure sounds better, but the TREX gear is larger, and it appears I do not have enough head speed for the tail rotor to work effectively. I am using the eSky Belt-CP factory motor and pinion gear. What is it, a 10 point? I wonder if I need to go to an 11 point to get some more head speed. Is that right? Oh, I did not change the smaller main gear, the "tail rotor driver gear" I guess. Should I have ordered a TREX version of that, too?

During testing, I did strip the small tail rotor gear that drives the belt. Wow, I expected the belt to lose some teeth, not the little gear that drives it. Sign, more to do.

Hi Peter,

Several of us have gone to a 13 tooth pinion to increase head speed and it works quite well.

You don't need to change the gear for the tail rotor as speeding up the main gear also speeds up the tail rotor.

If you're using the stock Tx, turning the Hov.Pit (hover pitch) knob to the left will lessen the main blade pitch a little and increase the head speed.

Are you stripping the gears when you crash?

How did I strip them? Aww, you would have to ask that. Yes, crashes... or nearly crashes. Let's see. One was an accidental "idle up" from a dead stop. The other two were of blade strikes with the ground while nose-in and applying left & right stick in the wrong directions.

OK. a 13 teeth pinion and a gear puller it is.

Thank you for the information.

:) Yep, that would do it!
