Hi all!
I'll test my new new motor soon, but I heard that this motor is a little bit too strong for a standard plastic frame. I've seen readyheli has a frame stiffener, does this help? What do you think, is it worth an upgrade? A pilot using the same motor already destroyed two front gears...

bro a decent thickness piece of alloy cut to the right width then put between the frame sides directly behind the motor with two screws fixing each side stiffens the frame between the mast and motor heaps

will need to use the larger recvo gears
With that motor on the plastic frame as you need the larger first gear to move the motor away from the pitch and roll arm mounts otherwise it just wont fit.
plus you need a frame stiffener to help out but its not impossible
Im working on some alloy frame stiffeners that will benefit both the carbon and plastic frame

It also helps greatly to have the upgraded motor mount that has the front bearing that captures the top of the first gear shaft. This keeps the distance between the first gear and pinion constant.
The Z30 is successfully used in the CF so there is no reason if the frame is stiffened and the new motor mount is used it shouldn't work on the plastic frame.

i have the standard plastic frame and i use the motor mount that has the bearing on the shaft... and the ok gaui gears with my z30 and i have it set to run at 2500 rpm and throw it around and theres absolutly no flex or problems with mine

Agree plastic frame flexing was old news for the first run of kits. You get a new kit and it will be fine. Believe or not, I crashed my hurry 6 times and have over 300 flights without a single gear stripping. I have also run at 2100-2400 rpm. These are all new gears from Gaui and no Revco gears. Have I been lucky? I can do tic-tocs continuously now and still no gear stripping.

If you are really worried you could always get the frame stiffeners http://www.readyheli.com/Custom_Heli_Parts_Hurricane_550_Carbon_Fiber_Frame _p/chp-g072.htm

Hi!
Thanks for the answers! I already have both 60T and 50T front gears. I'm using the 16000kV Scorpion. The upgraded motor mount was part of my set so no problem there. I think the OK gears are pretty hard. I had a Delrin 61T main gear from flyin-hobby installed when testing a new ESC. Soft start wasn't soft, my Delrin gear lost 4 teeths :) no problem at all at an other gear (60T, 12T motor and 20T owb). I don't know if it's worth to take one of the revco gears. Anyway, I think the frame stiffener is nice upgrade, will be part of my next order.
@michael88997: what blades do you use and what's your Hurri's weight? I'm using 530mm SAB and have 2,5Kg. Another pilot using the same motor regularly shaves his gears with the same set-up (using a 50T main gear).
As soon as I have my Z30 I'll log some flight to get some real world data. I'm curious how much power this motor really has and if it's worth replacing the Scorpion...

i use the rcp 500 carbons but i dont know the weight cause i dont have a scale but its alot lighter than my 50 nitro was lol... i use the 50 front and 15t pinon and never had a gear strip... i also have the align 75amp esc and its set to soft start but the motor has so much torque i spin my blades with my fingers before i give it juice lol... i have the short boom on there and i use zippy 3300s but i just adjusted my elevator arm to help with cg and it worked great...

Do you mean you just added elev trim? or did you do something else?

well i had to add in a little 2 much subtrim for my likin so what i did was added the subtrim then flew it until it hovered stable... the set my subtrim back to zero and moved the arm on the servo so that at zero it would be around where it was with the subtrim... when i go inverted i still have to correct it but ive gotten used to it and when i had subtrim my flip rate was reduced alot which is the main reason i moved the arm...
