After several flights taking off and landing on the grass I thought I would try landing on the driveway. The landing was okay but as the main blades hit a certain speed as they were slowing down the machine started to wobble to a point that I was concerned that it might tip over. I have noticed on take off on grass as the rpm increases the is a breif moment when there seems to be a high vibration level but as the main blade comes up to speed it seems to go away. The machine seems to fly well and I have 26 flights on it so far but I think there might be a problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ed

It's a pretty common thing with Raptors, I see it more with 30's than 50's. It usually only happens on hard surfaces, at certain rpms, the flex of the landing gear lets the whole heli get into a shake, almost looks like a dog that just got out of the water... Somtimes running the blade bolts a bit tighter or looser can get rid of it or tame it down.

I used to have a Schluter Champion in a Star Ranger fuselage that would become a blur during spoolup... pretty scary, but it never actually hurt itself.

Colllective,

Thanks for the input. It was the first time I saw that and thought I had a problem.
