OK... finally got all the servos replaced and the GY401 in and did some testing outside. I set it all up just right according to Sokal's vids... the 401 light is red solid in HH mode... but it drifts! I can't trim it out either since 1 click on trim is too much so it drifts the other way. I land an recenter it (3 clicks)... doesn't go away. Whats up with that?

If it is perfectly set up, you need to re-bind. If re-binding doesnt work then your setup is not perfect.

First, don't touch the trim, heading hold takes it as a turn input.

Second, make sure you dont move the model while the gyro is booting. For my electrics I touch battery to esc wires till the gyro boots, then push it in. If it interups power, start again.

Last, if theres any vibration being transmitted to the gyro through poor mounting, a tie wrap, or tension on the wires pulling on the gyro case, these will all cause drift.

OK. I'll follow all the advice so far and let you know! :) Tx

EDIT: Hey.. I had the rudd servo subtrimmed... wonder if it is seeing that as input? I'll set it to zero and try it out.

If you added the trim since you bound the Rx then thats the problem. Zero the trim AND rebind. That'll sort it!

I'll try it out. Correct the subtrim must remain zero always with the tail servo?

No that is not correct. You can add subtrim, but you MUST REBIND after changing it.

I will say it again. ANY time you make any Changes in your Radio that effect servos, REBIND!

"BE KIND............ REBIND!"

Do you guys just pull out one servo to to put in the bind plug? I tried and killed something.. see my other post. HELP! :(

That could fry your receiver.
You only bind through the Batt/Bind socket (the leftmost).
Putting the bind plug in any other slot will short the control output from the Rx for that servo channel to ground, which could damage the Rx.

OK... check, check, and check. Tried everything above. Everything is setup nice and centered.. still a slow drift! Heli brand new.. belt good and properly setup.

It's a very nice smooth drift... probably 90 degrees in a 30 seconds if I didn't correct it. A very consistent drift... not a jarring or slipping type drift.

Now. even if something isn't setup right mechanically.. that wouldn't even matter right? The 401 would compensate for that.

I know you don't trim the tail, but for speed, just one click of trim is way much so if drifts the other way. Rebound many times.

Am I missing a radio setting somewhere? Ive tried a gain from 60 all the way to 70. Travel adjust on the servo wouldn't matter for drift? Delay doesn't affect that either right?

EDIT: I shouldn't need to any radio settings in REVO or anything besides the basic NORM in Reverse.?

I don't think you can fry the rx by doing that. Its on fail safe now and you need to rebind. It happened to me when I removed my ccbec in the batt/bind plug and plug it somewhere else. The rx went to fail safe mode then I rebinded again she is up again.

Oh well. Tried everything mentioned... really set it up right.. still drifts.. but it's not a big deal. No more than say 4 or 5 corrections needed per minute of hovering. And as soon as I get the guys to move forward (nerves.... I can go all over the place with my HBFP while being relaxed!.. I shake when I even go nose in the B400!).. when I am moving around more of course the hold is plenty.. fast sliding is amazing the hold!

I am having the exact same issue with a 401 on a B400. Very slow consistent drift, and nothing I try will stop it. For me a couple trim clips mostly negate, a third over compensates. I first tried shortening the pushrod, but this had no effect.

I'm guessing it is a problem with the 401? It otherwise performs great....

This post is old.. and many weeks ago I fixed it. Unsure exactly how... but a combination of setup and rebinding etc. Not sure I could reproduce it but it sure works good now! So solid its just funny.

OH... I should mention my drift did seem to get way better when I rerouted some wiring.. I had some servo wires touching the gyro.

Ok, I don't know what just happen but my heli starts to drift too. I tried everything posted on the forum. its driving me crazy. :arggg:

I noticed the servo starts to creep when I started to spool up 50% power. But it doesn't creep on 0%. which now I think the servo creeps is cause by vibration on the gyro. There's always been vibration on the heli so i don't know what cause this to happen now.

This is going to be a long night.

How do we insulate the gyro from vibrations?

foam tape. That's all there is. Make sure NO wires or frame is touching the gyro and the gyro wires themselves have some loops in them isolating them as well.
